You start to realize that ironically, roundwounds on a Jazz Bass actually don’t sound very good for jazz. Not even with the tone rolled off on the neck pickup.

I play bass for church. One day I arrived at rehearsal and the amp was gone. They've had break-Ina and didn't want the bass amp to be stolen. We use in-ear monitors, but I o 'n KY had cheap ones with me with terrible bass response so I was always reliant on the sound from the amp. We practiced without the house speakers, but even with the house speakers (including bass bins) the sound loses its attack. I was also used to the floor shaking the air moving.
All the reasons I quit bass neatly summed up.

When your trying to change the strings in your bass and the strings are being stubborn and won’t go on, I was just dealing with this, my hands gonna hurt in the morning because of how many times I slammed it on random surfaces

I just don't hate people who do this because I know basses can be expensive sometimes and money could be short for them or don't know how to even touch a bass
