In this video, I’m putting Fender’s Ultra II Stratocaster to the test to see if it really lives up to the hype. With its new noiseless pickups, Haymaker humbucker, and S-1 switching system, this guitar offers a huge variety of tones, from clean and vintage to modern rock sounds. I’ll show you how it performs through my Fender Deluxe Reverb and Toneking Royalist with some overdrives like the J Rocket Blue Note Select and a vintage fuzz plus . Plus, we’ll crack open the pickguard to check out its impressive build quality. If you’re in the market for a versatile Strat with modern upgrades, this could be the one!

  • totally get that done people don’t like nitro, but personally I wouldn’t spend $2000+ on a guitar with a plasticky urethane finish. Lots of S types in that price range with nitro, but not from fender.

  • Let’s see..if I upgrade my new Fender player II Strat with 15 € graph tech nut
    70€ locking tuners
    150 €Fender case
    142€ deluxe tremolo
200€ Fender Noiseless Set Strat Vintage PU’s
=577 euro. I paid €900 for my Player. I would pay 1477 euro with upgrades.. saving me still a 1000, MORE OR LESS euro. And I get a chambered mahogany body with my Player II…but no compound radius neck. The Ultra is made in USA probably by Mexicans. My Player is made by Mexicans, paid less than their American cousins, for sure. I think i got a good deal especially if i dont do the upgrades. And mine comes WITH a trem bar! LOL

  • Okay, it egregious enough here that I'm going to actually rant about it: Any review of a musical instrument absolutely needs to have the sound levels of the reviewer's voice and the playing of the instrument balanced so that viewers don't have to choose between either not really being able to hear the instrument, or having their eardrums ruptured whenever the reviewer's voice comes crashing in. For anyone using IEMs, the disparity makes the review simply unwatchable. I've tried hovering my hand over the volume knob of my headphone amp, but you speak so suddenly and unexpectedly that it's just impossible not to get blasted by your over-amplified voice. TURN DOWN THE GAIN ON YOUR DAMNED MICROPHONE. Or turn up the amp. One or the other.

  • Is the super Strat , also compound radius . Almost $2,000 when you can get same specs and more interesting body shape in the Charvell for $1,300 ! And a roasted maple ????! Just saying

  • I have the original Ultra Strat. It is my favorite Fender. The slight upgrades on the version II aren’t enough to make me give it up.

  • It's too bad that this model is only available with a single neck profile and a quite thin one at that. I would much prefer a fatter C.

  • More Strats released = more Strat circulation in the used market = more bargains to find later on. ????

  • With respect, how is one push/push coil split and a different tone pot connection "so much going on"? In the present era, this feels like giving Fender a cookie for tying their shoes.

  • The ultras aren't the tier beneath custom shop. It goes ultra then ultra luxe then custom shop ???? personally I'm waiting for the ultra luxes to be released cause the colours in the ultra range look kinda meh :/

  • This being the limit before Fender's Custom Shop shows either their lack of imagination or the limit Fender places on its own models to save room for Charvel models.

  • Just want to point out that the HSS comes with an Ultra II noiseless hot Strat pickups, while the SSS have the noiseless vintage. I think the latter should get you closer to a vintage sound, while the former is slightly hotter, as the name suggests.

  • I liked the tone at the very beginning. Was that pure neck pickup or was it middle/neck? (also listeing via headphones, I noticed a high pitch in the audio)

  • A shame what they did to that S1 switch, just a half blender for the sss version, the American professional has a more usable configuration

  • Was really hoping you'd be a tele guy! Great review none the less though. I really need to play that tele though so I can hopefully convince myself I don't need it.

  • Gotta admit, I'm not a strat guy, but DANG dude, that thing looks (and sounds) like it can make some damage.
The matte pickguard is doing mind control on me. Need help.

  • Let's go to Fantasy Land for a bit. You travel back in time to August 1972, just as Deep Purple finish their sound check. You hand this guitar to Ritchie so he can A/B it against his regular black Strat with the big headstock. Same amp settings. How effing cool would that be!

  • there's still the weird little routing hole on the bottom edge of the bridge, once you see it, you can't unsee it…

  • Beautiful , love the flat black pickguard , Your playing made me run to pick up my guitar thank you

  • Stainless Steel frets too hard for Fender? At this price that should be expected for a modern guitar. Also, roasted maple neck (maybe).

  • I'll stick with my Mexican Fender Jaguar HH special. Left handed, of course. My friends and I have a surf music cover band and I get some sweet rythym sound out of it

  • Love the idea of the Ultra Strat, both this one and the original, as in the modern specs as opposed to vintage specs. For me, I'd usually rather do the Player Plus as the specs are close enough and the price is better, or…recently I traded a player plus towards a 90's American Standard, because it's a dream guitar of mine. ❤
