What is the BEST way to record a guitar…? ???? #musicproductiontips

There are pros and cons to both… but my personal preference is to record directly into an interface. This is because you can use amp modelling plugins (such as Amplitube) to simulate recording an ‘amp + mic’ setup, and can customise the sound/tweak it, even AFTER recording your guitar.

This is the main difference between the two options: when recording an amp, you will get the ‘exact’ sound of the amp you are recording, but NOT be able to change it once you have recorded it.

When recording directly into an interface/DAW, you CAN change the sound after recording it, but may not get the ‘exact’ sound you are looking for, if say there was a certain sound you loved, that you could only ever get on your particular amp/mic setup you have.
