  • The obvious correct answer is to use multiples of 4 x SVT 810e cabs, two SVT heads, one head per pair of cabs, one head the master and other the slave, both set to 2 ohms. //Also, running direct into an SVT power section actually sounds pretty damned good.

  • I know this video was put out a number of years ago, but whatā€™s the difference between the preamp out and the slave out on some SVTs?

  • My V4B is hissing like hell with any pedal in the made in Ampex FX loop loop, even with my SVP 3 Pro preamp by ampeg. Really a piece of shit !

  • Can you plug the 1/4 inch jacks from the preamp out to the regular input where you would plug the guitar in? That is from your guitar to the main amp input, then an 1/4 inch output preamp to another amp regular input?
    Thanks much?

  • I'm happy that audio is getting simpler via HDMI2.2 and eARC type approaches, but I'm sad I didn't get into the world of audio until after the Analog Sunset started.

Looks like the world of live venue audio is still rocking analog, but that's a whole other level from my intended uses.

Good explanation, but my word there is a lot of jargon!

  • I think you're confused. You can't daisy chain Preamp Out jacks past the second amp as you state at 1:55. For other readers, you say why it's wrong at 1:30. When a cord is plugged into the Power Amp In jack, the Power Amp In jack DISCONNECTS from the Preamp Out jack. The Power In jack is a different jack type than the Preamp Out jack. The Preamp Out jack, with a cord plugged in, does Not disconnect from the Power Amp In jack. That means that, if you put a signal into the Power Amp In jack, you can't get that signal out of the Preamp Out jack. However, according to the Owner's Manual, the "Slave" jack is connected to the Power Amp In jack, so when a cord is plugged into the Power Amp In jack, the same signal on the cord IS available at the "SLAVE" jack and can be used to feed a third, etc., amp.

  • I just bought a used SVP-CL preamp to use with my B5R amp. This is exactly what I needed to confirm what is in both manuals. Awesome video! Thanks brother!!

  • Dino, I wanted your take on this scenario…I have (2) SVT 3 pro heads, and I use an SVT 4×10 Classic cabinet with one of them, works great. I recently came across a Mesa Boogie 4X10 8ohm 600-watt cabinet. Obviously, I can't power this cab with one of my SVT 3 heads, but I was wondering if I could use the power amp in and preamp out jacks the same way you are talking about to power this one cabinet? Would that create 550 watts at 4 ohms each, which would be a decent fit for an 8ohm 600-watt cabinet? Let me know your advice, thanks!

  • Hey Dino! I have two questions for you once you get a second!

My first question is: I just recently bought a Fender TBP-1 Tube Preamp, because I love the way it handles the lows, but I love the way my Ampeg SVT-4 Pro handles the midrange and high end frequencies, is there any way that I can have both of these preamps active without bypassing a preamp?

My second is: Could you make a video explaining how the Bi-Amp functions can be utilized? I can't quite fully understand it in the manual.

  • Thank you so much for the helpful video! one question tho… if you use the Pre out/power in as a series effects loop. Can you run more than one effects on the loop??

  • You said to use a standard guitar cable. Are you talking about instrument cables or speaker cables? Also, is it possible to do the opposite of adding a preamp, bypassing the one in the head, and instead add a power amp to allow the head to transmit more power? (900w power amp into a 200 watt ampeg, for an example) of course run into proper speakers. I'm curious about if this is possible on any amp, of any brand, although I seem to doubt it.

  • Bass cabs are intentionally built deeper, not larger height- and width-wise. It has to do with the projection of the lower frequencies of bass. Trust me…I hooked an SVT Classic up to a 300w Marshall 4×12" cab for a while…needless to say I destroyed the Marshall pretty quick. And if they built deep cabs with the same height and width as a Marshall 4×12", your back would be pissed off at you every time you had to lug those cabs around. There is a method to the madness.
