  • Picked one of these up at a pawn shop for 200 bucks. Had no clue what it was but decided to plug in cuz I was curious. I was completely blown away. I live on the mid gain channel with my tele and the tone us so musical. Very responsive Amp with killer tone

  • To my ears this is a better Marshall. It's not as brittle and has a rounder high end which I love. Sounds amazing with buckers or single coils.

  • Great review mate, sounded great,,, which would you buy to get that lovely smooth Fendery cleans and also a good rockin crunch tone, this amp or the Artist TweedTone20R 20 Watt Tube Guitar Amplifier Combo ??? Dollar wise theres a big difference, is the Bassbreaker that much better?cheers

  • I'd come across your channel through another video and this one came in my feed. It's quite hilarious, because I've been scouting this amp for a few months now in other reviews to pair with my DSL40 for a stereo rig. You're right, it sounds similar to the Marshall but still with some Fender character, which is what I want.

I don't typically use my drive channel(s), I have pedals and a multiFX I use for most of my gain, but it's nice to have it and it's actually not a bad drive/gain tone.

  • Hi, I got the Marshall DSL40CR but I was searching tor a Fender combo with a nicer clean than mine. How do you would compare the clean between the two in person? The Marshall is harsh, too bright and shrill. I have to play also funky and disco style with my band. Please help. Thsnks…????

  • I am a Vox person, loving the chimes, but this catches my eye for having the EL84 tubes. While I prefer the sound of two Celestion Blues, there's no denying the sound coming out of this single 12" V-type. Clean tones are superb.

  • This hiss to me is bothersome. I prefer a amp that is quiet.
Gain and hiss is terrible. Mesa do not have this problem.

  • great vid, as always, but do you think it has a better clean and breakup sound over the super sonic 22? many thanks

  • I have an amp that's a great blues low gain thing but its lead channel kinda eh. So im looking for a good all around amp. That one sounds great. Im really looking at 3 amps. Marshall dsl 40 the bass breaker and the peavey delta blues with the 15. It would be easier if I lived close to a music store

  • The amp sounds extremely noisy when idle but that's some nice uncharacteristic gain from Fender. Generally I really don't care for Fender amps but this one is intriguing.

  • Great video Shane, as always. Just got my 30R today, drove 360km just to get it, cause I didn’t want to wait:) I’ve owned a DSL40CR and just returned an AC15C1 for the 30R. In comparison the Fender just ripped the vox into pieces. I love the AC Tone, but the fender can do it all plus a Perfect clean channel and an unbelievable good Drive. And not to mention the perfectly silent FX Loop.

I’ve got a Laney supercub head, a Marshall 2525h, JCM900 4100 and a Roland Blues Cube Tour here and had many other amps including a Blues junior before, but the Fender seems to do it all. The only thing it can’t do seems to be the tight distortion I get from my 2525h. But it doesn’t have to do that! It just has its own perfect drive channel and by far one of the best I’ve heard over the years.

Now I just hope that it lasts longer than the previous Bassbreaker Amps, but so far I’m impressed. The stock EL84 are GT branded JJs and the preamp section seems to be Sovtek. I didn’t even think about swapping tubes for now. For example, the VOX that costs almost the same comes with really crappy Chinese tubes!

One thing that’s not so great is the reverb. It feels a little noisy, but just to a certain degree and doesn’t get noisier when you turn up the volume. And also the reverb is not the type I like, but that’s what I have my Digitech Polara for, which fits into the Bassbreakers loop like a glove.

Im incredibly impressed by fender so far. Lets hope it’ll stand the test of time!

  • Well I guess I disagree that the drive channels are where this amp shines. I think the clean channel is really nice and it does take pedals well. The lower drive channel is decent, which is a pleasant surprise for a Fender amp as you said. Over time I think you’d get less excited about it. And I don’t like the higher gain channel at all.

  • I have the Bassbreaker and the Marshall DSL40.. my DSL40 now collects dust.. this Bassbreaker 30 kicks the Marshall butt!! And I play every weekend ( when no Covid is present) Fender makes great amps

  • What it actually is , is Fenders copy/take on a Marshall Bluesbreaker, which in fact was a copy / take of a Fender Bassman. I personally just bought a Fender Bassbreaker 15 W Combo and I am very pleased with all the tones, very loud, quite light, can be gigged and practice, home use, the only drawback with the 15 W is the gain stages are not footswitchable.

  • Would this clean channel do a good jazz sound without craping out? I find that I can make it happen with the blues deluxe but I also like the drive sound of the bass breaker.

  • Anyone had one of these for a while now and having some noise and hum issues which gets worse with the reverb??
