Danelectro’s Greatest Budget Line

I take a look at a line of pedals from 2005 that’s so full of controversy, confusion, and low prices that your head’s going to spin right off your neck. I’m talking about the FAB series, which has the distinction of being the pedals that almost broke Guitar Center. On top of that, there’s some juicy conspiracy theories floating around about this pedal line.

  • I remember having the flanger on the board for a few years while playing live. No one ever noticed it and I use flanger in only few parts of my songs… Did more than what the price promised for me haha

  • It was proven beyond a reasonable doubt by a youtuber called Rob Mods that the FAB Distortion is a 3-knob version of the obscure Gorixon Distortion Master, and the expensive clone was the Maxon Distortion Master.

  • The FAB Chorus is one of the best chorus pedals ever made. It sounds better than pedals that are three times more expensive. Amazing for lush 80s sound!

  • I play rockabilly I have the gold pedal and the red pedal
I'm thinking about wiring up my red pedal in
    My Gibson tube amp
Pretty much I'm just going to have an Echosonic but without the tape delay

  • I have the black licorice fuzz and the fab chorus I'd trade u for ANYTHING you make Josh, just so I can finally try 1 of ur pedals, have wanted to try them forever

  • I tried these years ago and they made an insane amount of noise. I love the berhinger pedals though.

  • the best thing to do with delay pedals that have an easily accessible slap is to set the time to slap then crank the feedback into a pseudo spring sound

  • The Nadine's overdrive pedal looks so much like a Yamaha DI-01 that I have to wonder if it is a rebranded Yamaha pedal. I don't have a Yamaha DI-01, but I do have a Yamaha flanger from the same era and that's what made me think of it.

  • I always look for a video from Josh, about some of the Cheaper Pedals, as I'm trying some for the 1st time
and happen to have been given a FAB Overdrive, and found it too Loud and overpowering! the level knob can barely be turned on
as it sends the whole unit into spasms with great big globs of Volume, bursting out all over the place

  • I just picked up a fab metal. Even though im not into grunge or certain metal sounds its perfect for hot rodded 80s sounds on the lowest setting and responds amazing to the volume knob on the guitar giving beautiful cleans, edge of breakup, and crunch

  • Another YouTube channel figured out that the Fab Distortion is the Maxon DS-830 Distortion Master. Pwnt. Rekt.

  • You can have the custom Danelectro case for 10 pedals with the power supply, Imagine the value if it was 10 discontinued Danelectro pedals in the case like the Swami pedals a.o.

  • This was the first pedal i ever had, FAB METAL and i never knew it was based on the grunge, thank you so much! Learned again with you. Love your work.

  • Been using the fab chorus since they came out. I've tried more expensive pedals… It's just better. If it dies, grab another for under $20. No brainer.

  • I have the flange and the echo pedal. Was given both as compensation for the guy I got them from not being able to fix my guitar frets. Still need to get a power supply and link cables though

  • I've had about half a dozen chorus pedals over the years, half of which were more on the pricey/rare side, but the Fab Chorus is still my favorite I've ever heard and played. Feels ridiculous ????

  • That FAB distortion was one of my very first guitar pedals ever, and I still got it. I'm proud that it broke Josh mentally. You go little FAB!

  • I've got a few of these and they're all good but some are really good – the FAB overdrive is a great pedal, as is the FAB Distortion but I really love the Echo pedal.

  • just grabbed the fab metal pedal for $15, i love the high treble and breakage. seeing as the dod grunge was a proco rat-esque clone it’s basically the reskinned-reskinned version of the rat which is great on its own.
