Seventh Arpeggios For Guitar – Warm up Exercise

The Seven Diatonic Arpeggios

In the key of C major, the seven diatonic seventh arpeggios correspond to each degree of the C major scale, built on each note in the scale.

Here’s a breakdown of each arpeggio used in the exercise below, along with the intervals.

Cmaj7 – C E G B (1, 3, 5, 7)

Dmin7 – D F A C (1,♭3, 5,♭7)

Emin7 – E G B D (1,♭3, 5,♭7)

Fmaj7 – F A C E (1, 3, 5, 7)

G7 – G B D F (1, 3, 5,♭7)

Amin7 – A C E G (1,♭3, 5,♭7)

Bmin7♭5 – B D F A (1,♭3,♭5,♭7)

Each of these arpeggios uses notes from the C major scale and covers all the diatonic seventh chords within the key.

Practicing these arpeggios will help you familiarize yourself with both the chord tones and finger positions across the fretboard.
