  • Hey man, I just wanna say you personally are to thank for my entire guitar hobby. You made it sound so easy in all your videos that I felt like I could absolutely accomplish it. I believe I’m getting really good at it and it’s all because of you. So thank you so much

  • Seems like today is just about speed….I dont understand it…speed should relate to the feel your aiming for

  • I would argue that this message is more important than ANY kind of technique or patterns or any of that. Playing within yourself and being good at what you do, and not trying to impress, is perhaps the most valuable guitar/musical skill of all. Great lesson.

  • Eddie..excellent videos. Thanks. Quick question to you or anyone..I can play the CAGED shapes very well. But my problem is I do not know how to move up and down and across the fretboard – from say position 1 directly to say 4 for example without staring at the fret board and checking off root notes etc etc. So how do you know exactly what note on the fretboard to jump to from say position 1 to say position 4 without looking at the fretboard, as you experienced and awesome guitarists do? Is there a trick? Or is it just memorizing all the notes on the fretboard? Or it will just come by practice? I am stuck..would appreciate any advice….thanks.

  • Or…..oooooor there are some or at least one out here who has not give any of this any thought and has just felt our way through the years. No mind payed to technique or over thinking. I recall the first time my son had come into the living room that was dark and asked me “ how are you playing that in the dark?!” I had not thought about it. Was just plinking away before I went off to dream land. I informed him I did not need to look t the frets. I may but my hand just knows after many years where to go find what I am hearing in my noggin. Not really any thought to it. In fact playing is the one time the racing thoughts are silenced. I will however spank my main guitar with authority with feather duster and ask her who’s your daddy? Just to see if anything is gained in doing so. ????

  • Eddie, I have to say, most of the time when I watch your lessons, it's stuff that I already know and have done for years. The thing is, it's great to have the reminder now and then because maybe I used to do something that I kind of drifted away from and you just reminded me how cool it can be. Maybe it's something I know about but you put in a new perspective and suddenly I'm thinking about it differently and using it in a new way. Whatever it is, it's always very helpful and I appreciate how you approach these things. Like this one. I absolutely already do all of the things you laid out here but you wouldn't believe the validation I feel from watching this lesson and realizing that the reason I get the compliments that I do is not because people are just being nice, but because I focus on all of those kinds of things. Like serving the song rather than flexing technique. Playing it like you mean it, with confidence. Simple or not, if you make it fit what the song needs, you really did something. Tell the story, as you said. Merci beaucoup!

  • Great attitude. When we can lighten up on our ego, better results happen … on guitar or in life. Peace brother!

  • Love the commentary and anecdotes. Well-expressed ideas. The last bit about ego is my problem. Thought something wrong with me but you dispelled that notion. Let alone an audience. Whenever I play in front of even a family member I try so hard Not to make a mistake and this stifles my flow and creativity and kills my enjoyment. Mr EGO is the problem!! Thank you for this discourse.

  • Is there a video on barre chords and the number system? I’m going into playing with bands and most time I’ll be playing chords and they will use numbers

  • Yes, authority is good, however dynamics is the secret sauce! Some authority, some so light people have to really concentrate to hear it and then slam them with authority again! Tone is in the fingers, but yes amp and pedal tones are important.

A slight variation of Jess Cox band " Bridges " my father in law always told about the same thing you're talking about. Keeping it simple and not too flashy is more impactful. (He wasn't a guitarist) I finally understand what he meant… you just demonstrated what he told me years ago.
Thank you for bringing it to life!????????
