  • It's so unfortunate that all these musicians now use these acoustic guitars with electric pickups. I couldn't believe when Neil Young started using them. They sound terrible. There's a huge sacrifice in tone.

But why did they do it? How were they able to have concerts with acoustic guitars in the past?! Did it just take a lot of work? Did it simply require you to sit in a specific place and so you didn't have the freedom to move around?

But I suppose if everybody is going to be doing this it's best to get the best technology.

  • I have tried an Ovation a couple of times, but damn this body shape is one of the most uncomfortable in whole world of guitars, hard to play while you sit, hard to play while you stand, guitar always poppin out, basically back of the guitar is unbearable for me

  • I feel you missed two things that can greatly improve live acoustic sound: using a K&K Pure Mini and/or using an IR with Piezo. An IR with piezo really helps to tame all annoying frequencies and makes it sound more natural

  • The Boss acoustic simulator also works pretty well for accordion sounds if you pair it with a volume pedal and some sort of modulation (a flanger? I can't keep my modultion effects straight0 and slide. It's a reasonable enough impression to fit some zydeco into your setlist anyway.

  • Schecter C-1 E/A is my choice.

Edit: the Body Rez is a great one knob wonder pedal.

  • Sorry Guillaume,
    I have to Correct you.
The Matom Pickup is a AP5 Pro, It is a Piezo and Microphone Based System,
With the Microphone in the Sound Hole.
Far Superior to Normal Piezo Pickups.
    Great Video as Always.

  • From acustic the second guitar is the best. From electric the second (last) one

  • There's a company called GraphTech who do the Ghost Piezo Bridges for all the main guitar designs. I plan to kit several of mine with their Ghost pickups. They fit straight into your existing holes. They do require additional wiring, which is up to you, whether you chose to blend them with the magnetic pickups, or have them as standalone. Some suit it more than others. I have an amazing shred guitar, a Kramer Assault 220 with a pair of Alnico V humbuckers and a Floyd Rose. I plan to modify it with a Sustaniac on it's own circuit, a Seymour Duncan P-Rails with Triple Shot housing (I LOVE the P90), and the Floyd Rose fit of a Ghost Piezo pickup. Yes, it will be like x3 the price of the guitar, but dayumn….. I also have a Hofner Verythin that I plan to put a Ghost Piezo in. I was inspired by the incredible PRS Hollowbody II Piezo. It's graph tech.com btw. I watched this video expecting the Sire Tele to be fitted with one. I didn't expect the Boss pedal, which doesn't sound great IMHO. The Music Man is much more akin to the Ghost Piezo. You don't need to buy a fancy guitar with one, you can buy the pickup on its own, and fit it yourself. I keep mentioning GraphTech in particular, because I haven't found any others. From what I've seen, they only do 6 string versions, and 4 / 5 string bass versions. There is one option that you didn't cover in this video: Fender Acoustasonic comes from the electric guitar, turning acoustic side. Godin do one from the other direction, where it's aimed at acoustic players, with an electric side.

  • Sorry…but in this life I will never be able to look at the acoustasonic…and consider it as a possible real guitar..maybe in the next life…

  • The Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster was surprisingly my favorite sound and the Petrucci was so unexpected.

  • I have a PRS SE Hollowbody 2 that I am very impressed by.
All these guitars sounded very good, especially when thought of within the context of a band.
