  • Hey Phil, I love your channel. Your content over the years has inspired me to build a strat from Warwick/Stewmac parts. Excellent result! I just finished installing PRails with triple shots into a 2000-ish epi Les Paul. I love the results! Thank you for your detailed, thoughtful demonstrations. You are a wonderful information resource. ????

  • How often does this show make it to audio podcast format? I've been listening for a while, but the livestreams don't seem to all make it to the audio version.

  • ??Phil, it’s so much fun when you take out all your toys !! Look at all the pickups you can test! ❤ I like the slanted humbucker very much

  • For the somnium guitar you should write a track for your album called insomnium, you just use that guitar switching out pickups for every part or change

  • For low end basses i cannot suggest Schecter enough after trying a stiletto my standards for what "good" is have changed completely

  • Hey Phil I've been meaning to ask what is the dark greyish green acoustic. It looks like a Godin A6 maybe but the headstock looks to be slightly different and not say Godin. In the frame it's the 3rd to the right. I have a '98 Godin LGX and absolutely love it. Godin's are a great deal on the used market.

  • I love my Boss Katana amp but then again I'm running a PRS compressor in front of it that stays on all the time. Like you said, you can't tell it's on until you turn it off.

  • I would love to not know whether its going to be 70 degrees or 95 degrees. I don't know whether its gojng to be 25 or 75. In the past week the temperature has been as low as 25 and as high as 80.

  • I breathe on my hands to get some moisture on them to open a bag. Mine are dry too. A woman told me to spit on my hands at the supermarket. I wouldn't do this in public. 😉

  • While I love the "Guitar of the Weak" segment, maybe you can mix it up with some "Guitars of the Strong". Just a suggestion.

  • Get the superglue that comes with a brush in the cap. It’s the best for playing with a sore finger tip. By the way, great show as usual! I’ve been here since show number one

  • Endura neck hurts my hands 🙁 I have jacked up hands and want a headless for travel. Gonna buy a Hils!

  • Thanks Phillip. It was a great show. Accompanied my trip to the music store and my lawn mowing. Have a beautiful day!

  • It would be cool if StewMac sent you all their pedal kits and you made a demo video of how they sounded, how to arrange them on a pedal board, and maybe a bit about assembling them.

  • Least noisy pickups – Lace Alumitones. Low resistance, but they're built differently and resistance doesn't really equal output.

  • One thought on the Katana / compressor discussion – internally, you can place the compressor after the amp block. This changes the feel, with the benefit of changing settings per patch.

  • Funny you mentioned the giveaways. I enter nearly zero giveaways, because there are so many products that I think, "You'd have to pay me to take that thing off your hands." Then you get a W6 for the value, and you pay taxes on that! There was a guy who won an expensive guitar from Sweetwater who had to sell it a few years ago, because he couldn't afford the taxes on the free item! ????Last thing I would want to do is win an item I don't really want or need and then have to pay Uncle Sam for the 'pleasure'.

  • If you want to put an iron-om patch on a gig bag, iron it on the pocket with a block of wood in the pocket to protect the foam. The outer side of the pocket is not likely to have foam. I love the channel but timing for live doesn't work for me. I watch the recording on Saturday morning with my coffee (or maybe a Second Cup of Coffee – reference to a Gordon Lightfoot song). Thanks and KYG ????

  • Best thing I found for dry chapped cracking skin is to find a really good lotion, put it on at night and put on cheap white cotton gloves and go to sleep…You can find those gloves in a 2pk for 5 bucks at any drugstore…works like a charm????

  • I've been loving this show for a long time Phil, but I have to say something that's fairly inappropriate and I'm so sorry. Since your wife started introducing the show, her incredible voice makes me want to be a naughty boy so I can imagine her telling me off. There. I said it.

  • Check out the channel "Physik der E-Gitarre" by a former German professor. The videos are in German, but you might still find valuable information just by looking at the slides. With the TCI pickups, PRS is discovering something again, which has been investigated and published decades ago. Besides: tonewood does not really matter, especially for the normal user. It is all about conservation of energy and how the string loses ist. Pickups and electronics, especially condensators, are more important. Prof. Zöllner is measuring and comparing different pickups, cables etc. so they can be comapared. He also states, that almost all pickup producers do not know what they are doing on a deeper level and they do not publish the data necessary for comparison of pickups. In the end it is all physics and paying more than 100 $ for a pickup is huge profit for these companies. I really recommend to watch.

  • I was going to tell you about that trick with the plastic bag in the grocery store; ie: using the produce sections dampness and then opening those crazy plastic bags that most of us Males who have dry hands to start, adding cement work to the equation equals really messed up hands. I had a 1962 Fender Stratocaster which was stolen back in 1989, never wanted to even see another guitar after that, but time although may not heal all wounds, it does make the wound liveable. Of course a 1962 Strat is now Unobtainable due to the price point, but I do have a Epiphone Les Paul Jr., and it plays better than most Gibson Les Paul Jr’s I have tried. Happy Halloween from Brad in Victoria, BC, CA, long time viewer.

  • Hey Phil, how will the tariffs will affect the final consumer? That was asked in the question, and I didn't hear you answer that part. Thanks.

  • Great way to unwind after work, watching the podcast I missed live. Out of the 8 guitars I have; 7 have cases; but that's the way they came when bought. Only my 65 Gibson Firebird III non-reverse doesn't have one a case. I don't think I have really given much thought about gig bags v cases. great podcast as always. Tell Jay howdy.

  • I only buy guitars that come with a gig bag or a case. (PRS, Godin…). It’s a small gesture that goes a long way.
