  • Please respect post. I just need a little help.

Do ya'll think it's okay to connect two multifx pedals?

I'm planning to connect Zoom MS50 to my Zoom G1xfour.

    Thanks for your insights!

  • Multi effects win 100% for me. While i respect pedals paved the way. As a poorer guy who is new to the pedal world. You can end up paying thousands out to finally find the right pedal for your board and that's 1 out of like minimum 4 pedals you would want for a board. Whereas with MFX I can have like 200 plus effects plus a drum and looper for around 200 pound UK. That's gonna win every time and I think every budget conscious person will agree

  • Im kind of biased here, but for me and for many others who play small gigs here at my hometown, and don't have alot of money to go around, I'll l be honest you cant really experiment onstage with multi effects, but for pocket's sake, compactness and ease of use, multi effects pedal is the way to go.

No matter what many still say to stick to analog pedals, multi effects are dominating more everyday, coming ever so closer to sounds not even analog pedals are capable of on a budget. If you are a gigging musician who isn't using multi effects yet, i highly recommend it, but for big time musicians, i still recommend multi effects if you havent already.

You might even replace your board entirely with a singular multi fx, or acommodate one with your existing analog pedal board, giving you the best of both worlds.

I've played on both incase anyone comes after me, and although im biased, if you like to stick to your guns, or your pedals in this case, well, to each musician and their individual preferences i guess.

  • You can buy the multi-effects board on the used market also, and save money.
I do like how you talk about the ease of access to the controls.
MultiFX boards allow you to try different setups that you might not be able to afford. You get 6-7 distortions rather than just one.

  • Nice video perf. Where can we buy these effects loop switchers than we can program? Or what brands are these so I can just search for it myself? Thanks and regards.

  • I think after 10 years of playing so far I'm on the guitar pedal train. When I first started guitar I simply just bought one big pedal board that had a lot of effects. I had many different distortion sounds but I could only adjust it so much with my amp. I dig individual pedals just cuz of how much more customizable it is whereas affect pedal boards sorta just give you the basics of a "brown distortion" sound or a basic "crunch" sound etc. It's more convenient for me to have a fully customized set of pedals with the exact tone/sound I'm looking for rather than one big pedal board with the basic fundamental sounds.

  • Thanks for helping me make up my mind. Been playing acoustic for 15 years but just recently picked up electric and I'm pretty lost with all the gear

  • The background music makes it absolutely impossible (at least for me) to listen to your explanation. So I quit after 1 minute 47 seconds. A pity, if your video was worth looking at until the end… I'd have been glad to hear your answer to the question.

  • Separate foot pedals have better effects i have lots of foot pedals which i bought in couple of years then I bought a boss gt1000 when it was released so I can compare both

  • For me stomp boxes are the fancy stuff because you need to buy power supply and cables, but they will give you good sound and tweak abilities but if you're going to perform live and you'll only gonna use unsure amp then your rig will not shine. So for me as a low buget guitar player multi fx is practical because I couldn't carry heavy amps to improve my amps so no reason to buy expensive stomp boxes, so multi fx is good

  • Thanks for this. Partly related question… which would you recommend from a pro recording perspective – multi fx pedal through interface/usb OR guitar plugins like Amplitube and Neural.

  • The big issue with multi effects when you have to play loud for a live show along with band. Most of them sound bad against good pedals

  • I dont have any background at any of these, but watching this video doesnt just gave me a solid idea bt i really really enjoy having time to know a piece about electric guitar. I love guitar, i love listening to solos, i love everything in this video. Thank you so much master perf!

  • Let me know your insights about the Zoom G6 effects. I just need help for deciding which multi effect that I would use with that price range. Thanks!!

  • Interesting video. Do ALL Headrush distortion tones as suck as badly as the ones in this video? Then I'll stick with my analog pedals.

  • Actually, you can update mulit-fx boards (some of them, like Boss) via USB, even adding new effects and patches, since it's all software. I was curious what you think of the sound quality of software-modeling vs. old-school pedals.

  • Been playing over 30 years and each time I am tempted to by a multi-effects unit, I chicken out lol! I don't gig so it's more a question of sound in my quiet studio man cave, and I just love pedals too much like my boutique Nocturne Mystery Brain which cost me $550 CDN after the exchange and import fees. Sure I can pick up a HX stomp for $805 (tax in) but I simply won't use everything that is in there and I have no patience spending hours to tweak sounds! It just kills creativity for me. Probably the best video on YouTube that covers all aspects to guide your choice. Many also have hybrid setups.

  • 45 year old guy here. Started with boss pedals and mxrs. Thats all we had before. All borrowed frm church. Cant afford them. I drool every time i see players before with pedal board, way before it was a thing. Then i took my chances with zoom 707ii. Loved it. Now i have g3xn. Using patches id imagine i hav actual stomps. Wch they r only dgital. Now im planning to build my own affordaboard, thanks to mini peds available now wch we didnt have bfore. Plus, the available hrdwares and the artwork is just superb. And ofcourse the journey in building 1. Im older, can afford them now. Awesome content sir. Had to watch this to knw ur take on the two. Thanks.

  • The only con to multi effects is not being able to upgrade to the next new age effect.

  • multi effect never let me down on gigs and youll spend the whole day tweaking those stomp box pedals

  • Why dont you demonstrate each pedal as you go through them? ! It would onlytake a few seconds on each but instead you overlay generic playing that doesnt tell me anything!

  • I have a pretty big pedal board with about 2000$ worth of pedals on it but most the time when going out to play with friends I grab my digitech rp155 and a ditto looper. Just cause it's so much easier to move around and less to worry about that something might happen to one of my expensive pedals. But I will say multi effects are gr8 when u just want to have a jam at a friend's house or need a small set up for on the go
