I distinctly remember Jim having a Les Paul Raw Power which had a pretty plain grade maple top cap in a natural finish – this would have been directly post-Bleed American early 2000s era. Was hoping he'd talk about that one, because I always thought it was a sharp looking LP that really stood out.

This is so sick, I mourn for the kids starting now that will probably never have the insane (awesome) experience of dragging massive amps to small gigs. If you've never made the sound guy groan when you load in, are you really even rock n roll? We've finally hit my "Back in my day" moment ????
I do wish the UA OX I use now (with those same old massive amps) existed back then though, would have solved so many issues, and I'd probably still have all my high end hearing.

They've always sounded good. They're like pop composers. I'm guessing Mark trombino taught them a lot, but there's a lot going on in Jim's mind! He does eat world. Also very under rated drummer!

Not many people realize Jim and Tom were influenced by Jesus Lizard/Unwound and how amazing their small basement shows were. I so you guys 97 maybe 98 with Sweep the Leg Johnny in Portland. Thank you for the years of amazing commitment to music!

wow, we used to cover one song of these guys in a cover band, but i never knew anything about them or their other music. They are really good. definitely going to dive into their music. great video.
Have seen this band through so many iterations (Static Prevails hit me real hard at the right age) and they always sound SO GOOD live and put forth so much great energy.
My funny story: I had an all-access pass at a festival they were playing and was beyond excited to go watch them from the side of the stage. They were in their (current) Fractal era, and it was definitely not the experience I was looking for…all drums and the only guitars/vocals that you could hear were coming out of the mains. Not even any stage monitors happening. It was SUCH A WEIRD SOUND EXPERIENCE. Once I walked back into the crowd, it sounded a hell of a lot better. ????

JEW is such a unique band -they not only "get away with" playing things other bands would be teased for, but they somehow pull it all off too! ive seen them live at least 5 times and their live show is really good too. perfect unassuming rock stars, folks.
I was the stage manager for these boys on the Lock Up Stage at Reading Festival a good few years back. They were sodding awesome. Very nice fellas as well. Best job in the world when you have a band like this. Thanks chaps.
Actually, funny story: I do remember them opening the show with “Futures” and the guitar tech had forgotten to retune the guitar to the correct key after their earlier set on another stage. When the band crashed in after the opening riff, they were all half a step out! They had to stop, let the tech retune the guitar and then fire in again! Mad. They all laughed and took it in their stride. Pros. Great memories.
As if there’s any doubt from the still sold out shows, JEW are still hugely important and hugely loved the world over. Thanks for the music lads!! I’ve seen them about 8 times live and I’ll still be watching them when I’m 70 and they’re at the local big casinos for $23 a ticket. For me that would be heaven.
Jimmy Eat World has always had amazing guitar tones. They hold up even today.

This is really one of the greatest modern rock bands. They are soooo solid live. Caught them back in 2010 and was blown away.
The Jim Adkins JA-90 Thinline Tele with set neck and P90s seems to have attracted a quiet cult following. Still made in Indonesia, I think, but priced like a Mexican-made. I don't believe that there has ever been an American-made version. Jim's description of the sound he wanted makes a lot of sense – the clarity of a Tele with the punch of a Les Paul.
