Conceived as a more affordable, lower-powered sibling to the PRS DG Custom 30, the PRS David Grissom DGT 15 tube-amp head is a single-channel, 15W firebreather that delivers 3-band EQ, tube-bias tremolo, three-position bright switch and footswitchable boost, reverb and tremolo. Crafted by PRS Amplifier Designer Doug Sewell to serve up a tonal potpourri of Grissom’s favorite vintage amps—as well as satisfy the guitarist’s affinity for shimmering clean tones and meaty overdrive—the DGT 15 is driven by two EL 84 power tubes, three 12AX7 preamp tubes, one 12AT7 preamp tube and a GZ34 rectifier tube. The matching DGT 15 cabinet is ported to ensure maximum dimension, clarity and resonance from a single 12″ Celestion Vintage 30 speaker.
“People usually talk about how an amp sounds,” says Grissom, a renowned Austin, Texas-based guitarist (John Mellencamp, Storyville, Trisha Yearwood). “But, for me, it’s a huge deal how it
feels. When I play harder, for example, how does the amp respond? I’m really excited about the DGT 15, because the goal was to come somewhere in the middle of a tweed Bassman or a JTM45 and a great, old AC30. Al of those amps respond really well to your touch and allow the most important elements of guitar tone—your hands and fingers—to come through.”
“This is an amp that steps back into history,” adds Sewell. “It’s a vintage-inspired circuit that employs tube rectification and cathode biasing to get that feel David describes. You can sense the DGT 15 underneath your fingers, and it gives you a less hard feel where notes bloom, rather than explode.”

What do you think of the new DGT 15 amp from PRS? Let us know what you think below! ????
so basically, it's a suhr hombre that's 15 W instead of 18 W so no matter what they try to tell you it's based on a 6G3 circuit that might be modified
Dave has a G-bender in his left hand
PRS has always been ahead of the game.. bringing in a guy like Doug Sewell years ago to design their amps is arguably one of the greatest moves any big guitar maker has ever did. Those Sewell amps back in the day were ridiculously good and they’ve never missed with the amps he’s did for prs. Year in and year out they continue to serve up world class tones
I've arrived at most of the same conclusions as Grissom while never really knowing who he is, I'm just nodding along with everything he's saying lol, this amp seems like a really good fit
This amp sounds like it would disappear in a mix; It sounds very dark.
Chocolaty good tone
Speakers?
I have the DG 30 it's magic , this looks and sounds awesome and for small clubs .. perfect
Got one on order!
Can you plug headphones into this for practice/home play?
Nice amp, but sounds a bit fizzy on the top and lean on the bass.
sounds nice. glad they didn't put an effects loop in it because if they did, i'd have to buy it!
David Grissom is such a badass guitarist and musician. Also shout outs to Doug Sewell, awesome awesome amp designer & builder
I own a PRS DGT core model…those pickups have the secret sauce. Can't find any other pups that sound like them.
Remember seeing him as a young man just ripping with Joe Ely. Fan for life.
One of the most rewarding guitar days of my life was the day I stumbled on David Grissom, such a musical, tasteful, and inspiring player
David been playing that same gold PRS since i met him with storyville in Roanoke VA.
Oh edit i just about forgot, David you hooked up with my sister there, yeah you gave her a nod, and told her to come around the bus, i about forgot that part. ???? She told me everything so, idk why i mentioned that, but she was a party animal back in the day????
I could watch David play all day.
I could listen to David play all day. ???? The DGT 15 looks and sounds amazing, so I'm really hoping that PRS might also have a combo version planned. That would be perfect for travelling light to the small gigs I play currently.
That gold top against davids jacket looks sexy
Needs an effect loop
Sounds awesome… im keen to try one. Im not sure why David and Paul dont work on a new neck pickup rather than a feature on the amp to make it more useable… ANYWAY, I Still want one 🙂
I think he's come right out and said it's his preferred amp in the studio now, on multiple occasions. The feel, is there.
Shhh! Don't let the secret out, that you don't need hundreds of watts, to get something instantly usable. Amps that size are perfect for a 212 cab. Mix and match Creambacks and Vintage30's to get some excellent results.
Didn’t see the “sound like DG” switch…..
It sounds fantastic! David is a really humble guy and wants everyone to be able to play quality instruments at a great price point! That's killer but it would be cool to take it down to 5w but that might sacrifice tone
Looks and sounds good; however, not for me. A smaller 5-10 watt combo version would be ideal for home use with my PRS SE DGT.
