Boss’ Gigcaster 8 is a powerful all-in-one audio command powerhouse, purpose-built for musicians who livestream and create audio and video content. Plug in a guitar or bass and play with flagship-level GT amps and effects. Connect mics and process voices with studio-grade processing from the VE series. Or bring in a keyboard or drum machine using the line inputs. The Gigcaster 8 could very well be an essential partner for anyone creating music-focused media. Nick Jennison reviews.

Amazing info as always. Im a multi instrumental musician and singer doing live gigs. Playing sax, electronic percs, guitar sometimes and sing over backing traks at restaurants/bars/hotels. Do you think this device is a good one for carrying and using not for live streaming? Does it feel sturdy and strong enough for everyday gig out instead of in a safe home studio scenario? If yes its amazing because i ll not need to bring my tc helicon vocal fx unit, my crappy behringer mixer, and i ll be able to record multi channel at my gigs. The idea of having a seperate mix to my ears is also amazing. I also plan a live looping project with loopy pro with multiple inputs so this is suitable i guess. Even with my ableton live edm mixing with instrumentals project would not need an extra sound interface like my scarlet 18i8. How do you think about all of these different scenarios? Hopefully you answer so it ll be a big help to decide in short time because its kind of a discount these days in my country ????
Hi, Nick! Do you have a video explaining in detail (a step-by-step instruction) how to set up the Gigcaster 8 with the GA-FC EX pedal? If you have not recorded one, could you direct me to someone who has done it? My very specific question is this: how do I assign each switch to perform a given task — let's say, I want to sing a song that has a part where I will be singing with the double-voice effect; then, I want to sing another part of the song doing vocal harmony (higher & lower). How exactly do I make each switch do that particular effect when I press it? I tried assigning the first switch (on the left) and it worked. I chose double-voice and the effect would go on or off as I pressed the switch. I tried to do the same with the second switch, with a different effect. It did not work, and it was somehow "hooked" to the first switch, meaning it would interfere with the operation of the first switch. I tried the third switch, and the same thing happened. I was not able to choose a different/independent effect for each switch. I am not a technically inclined person, and I feel that I have a Boeing 747 in front of me without clear instructions on how to fly it. At the same time, I've noticed that the documentation that came with both products is very poor, very superficial. I am having a very hard time trying to have fun with the two (Gigcaster 8 & the GA-FC EX pedal), and I am very frustrated. If you can help (or not), please let me know. Thank you for your attention.

Brilliant review of a great product. ❤
Great review. On the camera switching with the foot switch, did you use a third party plugin to map MIDI CC to OBS, or something else? Thanks.
Is there any way to use this with wireless/bluetooth rather than cable to your pc or ipad?
Is there a way to remove or mute the effects and turn them all on and off with a one click button?
such a great device, and really good review. thx
but something you should know if you use apple: gigmaster is still NOT WORKING with Mac OS 14 or IOS 17, at least per now
Ciao Nick, video molto interessante.
Thank you for the in-depth look with the footswitching. I was e-mailing Boss and asking them if this can do "snapshots" "scenes" like our beloved modelers and they couldn't even answer. But you covered it here, so thank you!
That is the best YouTube review video I have ever seen. Well done Nick! I will use this as a reference when I get the Gigcaster.
Thanks for pointing out the functionality with cameras! This seems to be great for people doing clinics. Thank you for pointing it out in the review.
Some strange hostility in the comments though. I'd not even respond to those, not worth the energy.
I was looking for a proper musician running through it.Thank you very much for the nuances you demonstrated.Great stuff !
sick video! I'm looking to buy one of these, but you got a sub from me for such good content!
Hi Thank you for the review. Can we use phone input in the front for keyboard in ?
Hi GIM,
I'm returning to gigs for small pubs. What this unit is capable of, would mean no need for the extra pedals / wires / plugs and extensions etc. So, by protecting with a case, would the GC8 be roadworthy enough to use just for live solo guit/voc gigs?
kind regards
Gaz
Great review. Can the bluetooth channel be EQ’d on the fly? Thanks for your time and effort doing this!
What he can do is talking … talking … and talking … the mirror is missing. I look other videos to get senseful infos about Gigcaster8. BYE
don't really understand the hostility towards this reviewer. If you've taken the time to click on this and watch it, it shouldn't be too difficult to find reviews of other similar equipment to make your own comparisons. The problem with a lot of YouTube reviews is that the people reviewing them can be very poor guitarists and can't show the true potential of the equipment. The biggest mystery to me are the amateurs that review an amp, but insist on plugging an effects pedal in first. What a waste of time that is. I think this video is a straightforward honest review that shows what this machine is capable of, nothing more, nothing less.
Screen seems to be not overly responsive – could you please confirm?
Best review of this I have seen so far……..
Thank
You
Very cool. I didn't even know there was a product like this to be fair.
I'm missing even brief comparisons to the ample number of similar devices…
As it is, this review tells me nothing about why I'd choose this one over any of the other ~10 or so competing products!
Nice! Thanks ????
