Lenny Tristano: The Album That Caused a Fury! Deep Dive Reaction.
Buckle in for this one! I am taking a deep dive into the controversial jazz figure Lenny Tristano. I will give you my reaction to two of his Atlantic releases, Tristano (1956) and The New Tristano (1963). Why did jazz critics say his 56′ album caused a fury and why do many proclaim his 62′ album as perhaps the best solo jazz record of all time? You and I will be the judge of that!

I don’t know Tristano’s records well, but I thought Lee Konitz and Warne Marsh put albums out which rank highly among my favorites: Motion (1961), Live at the Half Note (1959) and Lee Konitz with Warne Marsh (1955).
The New Tristano is great album i have on cd plus i have another great album
"Manhattan Studio" from 1956. Great artist, thank you!
Thanks Matthew, I have not listened to these records in a long time. Heard two first tracks.
I get back to you with my thoughts on the matter. I'm very familiar with "Line Up" which is based on chords of "All of Me". I've studied the solo but did not retained much of it. perhaps due to my shortcomings.
