  • Keep in mind that I have heard thousends of UK Hiphop and Grime tunes over 20 or more years, as I say your beats plus music is right at the top in quality, uniqueness and feeling.

  • Love this, and completely agree! There is almost too much information out there telling us how to be technically correct, potentially suppressing our feel and ideas. I grew up listening to various genres and artists. But enjoying the early house years of ‘89 and ‘90 followed by rave and drum’n’bass years from ‘91 to ‘94, it was all about experimenting, creative flow and energy. There was no formula. They were made with the limitations of the software & hardware. Tracker sequencers, 16mb of samples, limited fx and filters, but yet some of the best tracks were made with those limits by creative minds ????.
When you talk about distortion, it’s used in so many genres. My favourite example is Gary Clark Jr Live, I don't owe you a thing. The distorted guitar intro on this blues song is filth.

  • Keep up the great work bro! I love the bounce on those drums!!
And if you listen to a couple of the instrumentals I have on my YouTube channel you will hear how smooth the distortion is.

  • I absolutely love this one! You're basically speaking my language. May I implore you to download a couple of free distortion plugins from analog obsession! Trust me bro you won't regret it!
The first is Predd which is more of a mic pre but has exceptional auto gain and creates a strong second order harmonic making it exceptional on bass even when pushed to the max. It has a psychoacoustic effect of adding more low end. It's like witchcraft.
The second is distox which is a tube based distortion plugins, dope auto gain too and it has several different algorithms ranging from subtle to extreme break up!
And the last being pre box, which has over 7 different Saturation algorithms which range from tape, tube all the way to transformer saturation.
Combining all three in series in whichever order has an amazing sound on low end especially kicks and bass. Trust me my brother you will not regret it! Try them when you find the time. I repeat, you will not regret.
And the cherry on top is that all Analog obsession plugins have 4× oversampling which can be activated by clicking the logo.

  • I absolutely agree. All the gold "standards" that we now have in production are mistakes that someone made or experimentation and pushing the limits on "that is how it's done", wich in my opinion, that sentence alonr is the killer of creativity and art. That is the beauty of art. Doing something that has not been done yet and showing who are you as an artist. If you are one. I think people tend to forget that music is art.
