Brand new to the pedal market this season is the True North Pedals “SUGAR SHACK” overdrive. This little monster of a pedal is an interpretation of the classic Garnet Herzog, a classic amp drive effect that connects like a pedal but behaves like a tube-driven amp.

In the Sugar Shack, True North have captured the grunt and saturation of the original Herzog while keeping the control side painlessly simple. Just like the original, it can work in-line as an effect, or take over through an amp as the preamp. When paired with an overdrive in front, or being used to boost an already overdriven amp, it really opens up and pushes a glorious tube drive that’s in a class all its own.

As of this video it’s still in pre-release, having only just made its expo debut this week. But sign up for the newsletter for the official announcement when it’s ready to own! If you’re serious about tone, this is one to keep in the chamber.
