AMPEG | SVT Time, Ep. 1 – Creating the Ultimate SVT Bass Amp
Creating the new Ampeg Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT bass amplifier is the topic as
Brand Marketing Manager Dino “The Ampeg Guy” Monoxelos and Products Manager Dom Liberati tee off their new “SVT Time” series.
*****
We surveyed our loyal customers to ensure that the design for the Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT met and surpassed the items on their wish lists. That’s why the new SVT offers two discrete preamp channels that duplicate the revered tone from the amp’s most desirable eras: the original 1969 “Blueline” SVT and the mid-70s Magnavox design—and the two can be jumped together. Specially sourced and matched Ampeg Super Valve 6550 tubes complete the picture.
While the period-correct graphics and fonts and etched panel firmly reinforce the Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT amp head’s vintage aesthetic, contemporary features like a newly enhanced balanced XLR DI output, user biasing, whisper-quiet fan, and Neutrik speakOn speaker outputs place its construction firmly in the present.
• The 1969 “Blueline” and mid-1970s Magnavox-era circuits in one amp
• Handmade in the U.S.A. from durable top-shelf components
• Detailed, period-correct graphics and fonts
• Modern features include a newly enhanced XLR DI output, user biasing, speakOn outputs, and spring-loaded side handles
• Specially sourced and matched Ampeg Super Valve 6550 tubes
• Not a reissue—the ultimate SVT for today

the younger me hauled one w/ 2 cabs for years, also a 64 B15 for smaller gigs, now? ampeg RB-115 or 112.
7:10 is the sound! Heritage doesnt have it ;(
That is the cleanest original 69 head I've ever seen, museum ready!
I want "One of those old crusty things"
I bought my first in 1975 and still have several 70's heads and cabs but own a 1970 6146B head, the thing roars. Best bass amp ever made, period. I have two late 70's SV's and there is not much difference between early 6550 heads and late 70's 6550 heads, they have a lot of bottom and balls, both.
I’ve owned one for 40 Years, they ARE the BEST live bass amp ever made.
Why did you put the standby so close to the preamp board? This can create a constant hum.
Where is the video of the artists trying all the svt models? I’d like to hear the amp shootout ????
I've been playing for 35 years, and I've always wanted an SVT with and 8X10 cab. One of these days……
Each new SVT comes with two roadies & a Buick Roadmaster station wagon.
Is there a footswitch option for channel switching?
I've worn out half-dozen SVT's. Give me a Gallien-Kruger ANY day.
You guys equate gnarly with a buzzing low action. Is there a bass player in this house? 'Guess not…
Ampeg makes crappy horn sounding solid state and cut corners https://youtu.be/_jz73MXZOAo
Artists and creators never compromise for profits! Shame on you!
Hey Dino, give us another rundown about how you load an 810
Snagged a 1978ish Ampeg SVT for a cool $2,700 and I am not disappointed . Sweet sweet sweet Sound !!
shame on you guys , you didn't use original vintage & stock fender jb / precision from the 70's to make this video demo!. you have managed to find an original svt from the 69's, was it that hard to find original pair of fender jb & pbass of about the same year to make it sound really authentic ??? what a waste. if i was living in the US, i could ship you over my original 1978's JB for making this video. i can't believe you guys are in the US and you just couldn't find one of those. you are using some piss poor yamaha bass guitar on a mythical 69's bass amp, to prove what? the historic svt sound was made playing on original fender jb & pbass.
the last comparison was night and day differs. 50th is much better.. give a break… drummer frank mills
A bass cut allows more of your mids through, which is where your tone lives. Stop cutting your mids, guys!
The 52 year old head sounds better than the new yamaha one.
I used sans amp,????????????when I heard the SVT-PRO. There was no going back..????
Steven slate younger brother.????????????????????????????????
So amazing
I owned a 1976 blackline svt with 2 810 cabs, the best amp I ever owned
Where I can buy the tiny svt that I see on the table?
My favorite one is the Ampeg svt pro. So much options for fine tuning that tone.????
Give me shelter? Really? Obviously Dino meant “Gimme Shelter” … I hope ????
I have heard that Rod Stewart is using the 8 SVT's for his touring and they are now white.
Lol of course they're playing Yamaha basses since they now own Ampeg xD
Its just a Traynor YBA3A clone. Funny how Ampeg gets all the credit!
when you achieve all these results with a guitar tube amp but you know its not an svt fridge.
I´ll shut up—
No YOU shut up…
one more, hook up an Alembic bass to it and you'll stop looking at other basses right there!
The Ampeg 810's sound so good you will do I have done and buy a specific vehicle just to transport them! That good! Nothing new here! Been going on since 1969! I should know I'm that OLD. Throw that class D neo stuff in the garbage where it belongs! I do have two Hartke 12's don't tell anyone, they fit in my Corolla! And an EV 115B EV cabinet that kills as well!
Ampeg porn.
He’s gotten a bit older and bigger but still knows his stuff.
Really awesome as expected!! Loved the vibe, loved the serie concept, loooooooooved this killer anniversary version mixing two amazing incredible tones that make it more versatile than ever with an amazing possibility for modern sound specially for low tuning… making it looks sweet for mixing and recording!!!! <3 <3 I LOVE AMPEG!!!
Can we discuss Dom's Yamaha BB for a sec… WOW. I love that see-thru grain finish. Custom shop I'm assuming?
I love Ampeg. The SvT is Iconic. But for this baby, 3 Grand more less. Ill wait til some poor soul needs cash.
Man nothing beats the grind of ampeg
