The 2 unique tones of the Rickenbacker! #rickenbacker #scottsbasslessons #sbl #basslesson
Flick that pickup selector and instantly switch up the vibe!
While Macca opts for the simultaneously warm & beefy toaster pickup, the big ‘attackers’ (Squire, Lemmy) opt for the more grizzly bridge pickup.
Which tone do you prefer? Let us know in the comments! ????

Come Together is a Jazz Bass, no?
Cliff Burton no mention? boooo
Rickenbacker= Zeta Bosio ????
I think Squire’s tone was more from the neck pup.
Shows Lemmy playing with the neck
Y’all forgot to mention one of the greats. Geddy Lee anyone?
Cliff Burton played a 4001
The stero pickups are boss too
Clip is Lemmy playing neck pickup for Ace of Spades.
If you put it in the middle position and roll off the treble tone like 3/4 of the way and it sounds just like a jazz bass. Also, if you raise the mute foam to the point we’re it’s just barely touching the strings, it’ll sound like a fretless bass. ????
I'm not worthy????
Come Together was played on a fretless
Paul Goddard-Atlanta Rhythm Section
Damn all of these Rickenbacker videos are making me want to damn Rickenbacker!!. I already have three basses! I don’t even play them. I don’t need anymore!
edit: never mind. Just checked the price. $2500!
The weirdest thing about a Rickenbacker is that it somehow looks right for every style. You see Lemmy holding it, it looks like a monster, and if McCartney is playing, it's a classy looking chap.
A strat can go with anything the way blue jeans do. It won't clash. The Rickenbacker can be a star piece in any
Chris Squire
Peter hook played one aswell
Middle = Geddy (ie: Ric-O-sound)
Love love extra love the sound of a Rickenbacker
he said duality and im sitting here like, "I push my fingers in to my ????" ????????????????????
sounds like every bass ever
to be continued…. –>
Not a bassist but I absolutely love that Rick
Two tones: both awful!
The lack of mention of Geddy is absolutely fucking insulting
I owned a 70's cream 4001;J-U-N-K.????That's WHY the worlds finest(technical) players DON'T play em.
What happens if you take the cover dealy off?
Yeah. Not for me.
First “real” bass I bought because of Chris Squire.
and then theres cliff, he didnt use ricke backer pickups at all
Absolutely love,Rickenbacker bass,Everyone should have one❤
30% noise though ????
Yeah but Lemmy was like a rhythm guitarist on bass .. he said it himself.
I wish I was as gd as Lem… on guitar!!
Lemmy was playing right over the neck pickup.
Paul McCartney used the RickenBacker throughout the recording of Revolver and Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
On the White Album he switched between Fender Jazz Bass, RickenBacker and Höfner.
And for recording Get Back (Let It Be) and Abbey Road McCartney used Höfner.
So the line "Come Together" was recorded with a Höfner, not a RickenBacker.
Edit: He also uses the RickenBacker for Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine information I forgot to add.
Sounds like Telecaster of the bass!!
