Recording guitar using a Tube Amp with a line out has become one of my favorite ways to record guitar at home. Today’s common DI guitar recording workflow has a lot of advantages, but creating an in-the-box amp tone using plugins doesn’t always yield the best results. I’ve gotten great results lately recording using the line out my Supro Delta King 10. Enjoy he video!

  • A question: can you take the line out of one amp and plug it into the guitar input of another amp?

  • Man… I went and picked up the Cory Wong plugin after this and dude…. IT’S killer! The Supro plus the Wong is just so good. It practically finished a whole song that I’m working on ????

  • Have you had a chance to check out the Supro '64 Reverb? Also has a line out. Curious how it compares to the Delta King.

  • Can’t decide for 70’s – 80’s vibe cause stores don’t have these to try but either for home recording and I like pedals either supro delta king 12 or marshal dsl5cr- only thing is supro doesn’t have fx loop- ugh – any thoughts? Anyone? Ty

  • Thanks for sharing this overlooked tip. I have a Fender Super Champ XD which has a great DI sound for recording – totally surprised me when I first tried it out.

  • Aloha Braddah, Not only was I drawn to the amp subject matter, I was pulled in because of your name. I was stationed in the UK, two tours at two different bases. I had a very good British friend named Pat(Patrick)Breen in the US Air Force. (How is that possible one might ask?)His dad was American, Mom was British which allowed him to join the US Armed Forces. There is a similarity in your facial features. I lost touch with him and his Wife Heather so long ago. Anyway….eh Brah, nice demo of the amp! Mahalo nui loa for sharing your time! Aloha….Pau….

  • Great advice for setup, thanks for sharing???????? when u record line out to ur interface, how high is the volume on ur Delta? Been trying to do silent recording at home but I don’t get a recording unless the volume on the amp is up higher.

  • Patrick just watched the vid and its great by the way. I came to this vid because ive been TRYING to put together a home studio. Many yrs ago, when i was playing in a band in clubs, i purchased a Tascam 4 track to make recordings of our music. Ive always wanted to have a home studio since then. Ive been gathering different instruments, gear, and a Tascam 24 track to record. I have been loving Supro from afar. The one i want is 1600. I also lust after a Magnatone but im not made of money. Is there amp and cab sim that you would recommend that is the most true to the sound its trying to replicate? Also, do you think Garage Band or Pro Logic is better than what ive got with this 24 Tascam? I think i made a mistake getting that.

  • I’ve been doing similar but actually using the fx send out of the valve amp into the interface to avoid my bugeras emulated 1×12 or4x12 line out. That way you can get just a pure valve preamp. Sometimes I do use emulated out as it is so good. But it depends on if I’m wanting a totally uncoloured out but just the magic of the valves.for me the ultimate would be a valve audio interface

  • Hi Patrick!! I hope you can help me! Hi!! I just received today a Delta King 8. Very happy with the sound, but when I turned it on today, I noticed a small hiss or buzz as soon as I switched on the "stand-by", even with all volumes at 0 and guitar disconnected. Is not very disturbing, but in complete silence, there it is. Could be a defective unit or normal for a valve amp even in this case? Many thanks in advance!!!!

  • Great informative video. I would also like to see or at least go into more detail on the other ways you could use the Delta King Line Out?

  • Nice amp, when you connect supro to your audio interface directly does it switch off the speaker of supro?another words can you hear the amp itself when you use line out?

  • My little Fender Vibro Champ XD has a line out, too. I work pretty much like you. But one question… Do you disengage the speaker by pulling off the cable? I used to do that with my Fender… I was lucky my amp didn't blow up because it's strictly forbidden to run a tube amp without a box. I need a power attenuator (if I want to play at headphone level) or I need to build an iso box where I put my amp in to lower the volume. How do you solve that problem? Or do you play with the speaker on?
