What ELSE can the 303 do?
The Roland TB-303 is maybe the best example of musicians finding inventive new uses for a synth – they took a failed bass machine, got creative and invented acid house. So why don’t we invent even more uses for it?

This was a really cool video – I like your very laid back presenting style, and the fact you didn't segue into telling us about Nord or Express VPN. Very informative, and definitely better than seeing yet another 303 video that only rehashes the same stuff 303 fans already know. Subscribed!
Dude perfect video! Great homage yo the 303!
That first play through of the Radiohead bassline after you transposed the final note sounds so triumphant.
This is one of the best synth videos I’ve seen. Finally someone with a personality making it fun. Sorry Bad Gear ????
acid is enough
It has a solid TS-Audio out with no noise issues and its loud. Sequenzer works the same way as the original 303. Soundwise it is limited, if you take away the high quirky frequency content its just a plain simple analog Sound and i prefer other Monosynths
i would make a saw wave classic Barely Alive dubstep growl bass
Awesome video, ????????
The Roland T-8 can go way higher than that in pitch if I recall correctly. But I still want a dedicated 303 just for the extra bits and hands on approach.
Love the setup. My recommendation for a cheap, robust but flexible filming solution is a mic arm (similar to those lamp ones) + phone holder combo.
Great tutorial 🙂
and i thought Hardfloor got the most sounds of the silver box . . . . . . . who knew !
Pretty sure I saw Experimental Jank Purgatory play a basement venue to three people and a dustbin in 1992
I have the td-3 also. And I have also tried to use it a not-acid box and just enjoy playing it in pitch play mode and racing it thru my mixer, with lots of bass and then some fx etc. It a great little box for that. great video. Keep it up.
To me, the best example of the 303 in its intended use-case is an early 80s band called Imagination. Listen to tracks like "Illusion" and "Body Talk" as examples.
Cheers ✌️
I absolutely adore the 303 and it’s definitely more versatile than people let on. I’ve used it in many tracks I’ve released and sometimes you can’t even tell it’s a 303.
Absolute treat, lovely video!
Ace video! I have an original 303 so I’ve been chuckling all the way through this. I’ve also been programming jazz funk bass lines into it recently which is great fun. Low res and cutoff and it does sound sort of like a bass guitar. Oscar Peterson would have been proud of us, I’m sure…
I loved the video and jams!! One other thing you can do with the 303 and Ableton is record chords by playing each note separately, recording them, and then layering them. This can then be played as a sample and transposed however you want, plus you can get creative with how each note sounds (ie have the root note accented with loads of resonance and the 5th with a fully closed filter and envelop all the way up). I do it sometimes and that brings you far from the acid sound 🙂
I used to use rebirth in the 90’s, I would turn the resonance down and put the PCF on one track and crank the delay. The other track would be the bassline and again, no resonance.
I’d make slow trance c. 132bpm.
After borrowing my mates original 303 and deciding I never wanted to attempt that programming hell again, I bought myself a little Donner B1 '303' It's loads of fun and even programmable by morons like me. Great video, you showing that you can get more out of these things than just chirpy 'happy accidents'
My ADHD ass was enchanted by this shit, good show
actually a pretty convincing bassline
great video and fun to watch – thanks for sharing
Love this!
I love me some 303. Great vid.

10/1
All finished. Wonderful.????????
Great video!! 🙂 highly enjoyable and weirdly informative! feel inspired now to dig out my behringer 303 copy and put together some long form drone ambient with only the 303 ????
super creative with those drum sounds i love that
This is great work bro. Im only 1/4 way through and it just awesome. Great style. Subbed. Will check out your channel. ????????????
i've subbed, pressure is on now, create that content. jk, take your time, do your thing bro.
glad this fell into my recommended and glad i clicked! good shit and im so glad u picked the weird fishes bassline….. one of my favourites ever
such a fantastic video, I really really enjoyed it
I use a 303 plugin just for basic basslines. They can sound woody and don’t hog up a mix.
Your ability to deal with that godforsaken sequencer is a gift lol, i loved this!
Wonderful video! I hope you get more subscribers, your content is well made.
Great video. I like how you show the process of discovering how to do certain specific sounds. Very neat how much these little boxes can do
This was really a treat! Glad to find your channel
That was thoroughly entertaining and somewhat educational. Cheers!
this is awesome!
Nice work!
