Stingray VS P Bass ???? #scottsbasslessons #sbl #basslesson
Don’t sleep on the @music_man StingRay! ????????
With that powerhouse pickup (close to the bridge for maximum honk) and active electronics, the Music Man StingRay remains an instrument that fulfills a particular job with enormous panache.
Let us know in the comments below, did Leo manage to trump the almighty P Bass?!

I want 1 ????????????
No disagreements about the P-Bass, Stingray, and Leo Fender. However….. Alembic had a few years on the "active bass sound". However, the Stingray enabled the masses to enjoy a more affordable instrument that didn't stray too far from the Fender recipe.
Alembic never gets the credit it deserves.
Both iconic sounds, the Stingray is better, but they're both ugly. Always hated the headstocks on both, and the Stingray's pick guard looks liks a toilet seat lid, and I can't unsee it.
love my Sterling!
Wrong, Yamaha try series was the before the stingray
"why should somebody even consider this over that?" why? because it's completely different dummy
“When you play this bass????” … “YEah!?????” … “it sounds like a bass ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????”
Like damn chill lol
Thank you Louis Johnson…. Who the first stingray was designed for.
These guys make a great presentation
MM is = Punch. Fender = Mojo. Both great!
Where do you keep the keys for the Leo shrine?
Sting rays are toys … not real basses …they simply miss some essence
I love the sound of a sting ray but a lot of them have the same issue I have with J basses and that’s the nut width. I like having just a slightly wider nut because it gives me more real estate to rest my thumb. If I were to get a sting ray, I would buy a cheap one and get a nice road worn fender neck and sand the neck pocket out to make it fit.
Just bought one. It's my new #1.
too heavy thou
Fender is highly overrated. And while looks are a matter of taste, for me they are boring and outdated.
It's just so damned heavy! Lmao I'm a big guy who plays a Thunderbird and the Stingray feels like it weighs a metric ton!! lmao
Leo Fender is God in guitar and bass world. He was always trying to improve. Days before his death, he told his wife: I think I gave the guitar players all I have.
Sat in a guitar store for an hour. Just before I left I picked up a stingray. I now know my next BEHS!
I tracked with a 78’ 4001 ric all the time and one day it crapped out on me in studio. Luckily the sound engineer had a string ray bass and I had to use it… phenomenal tone. I was surprised at how much I could get it to sound like a ric. To this day people comment on the tone of that track always thinking it’s my Rickenbacker lol
Great history lesson of the iconic fender bass
I bought my 1st stingray in 99 and just picked up a new stingray special this year. The new model is lighter and slimmer at the neck joint and has 2 pickups vs one. I love my new stingray special but idk I still like my 99 stingray more.
Wish the stingray pickup was about 2cm closer to the neck
I love Ian's enthusiasm
I use to like the Musicman bass, every time I get one I end getting rid of it (I have owned at least 3). But I do love the tone of the Bongo (not the look), so hopefully I’ll be getting one or 2 soon ! ????
