  • Thanks for fiddling with Dan’s knobs Mick. ???? By doing so you saved me a couple of questions. Dan also helped me with an option for my similar vexing issue where my Source Audio Nemesis drops volume so much when engaged and doesn’t have a volume control. I think I will try your approach with the Electric Mistress into my Boss ES-8 switcher. And the tones from the board sounds killer!

  • Dan keeps starting Run to You and then swerving back to general atmospherics. Just enough for Bryan's eyebrow to rise slightly as he sniffs the air and cocks his head to one side ????

  • “Sorry for fiddling with Dan’s knobs there; I just wanted to see how much fuzz it had.”
    (Context is key.)

  • I got a question about this, is it run stereo with the amps both in phase, or one out of phase, or dry/wet?

  • The way Dan is using the red Llama reminded me of an OCD set to low gain. That’s a very usable tone.

  • Great board and tone as always! I saw you at the Musician and was blown away!
I’ve noticed the Pre Thorpy, Thorpy is before the Comp. Just wondered why….
Are they being used as different flavours of boost into the gain stages? Thanks.

  • Would you guys ever do a show featuring multi-effect floor units like the Helix floor, quad cortex, fractal fm3/9? Interested in seeing how you two would use them with your more traditional set ups/amps

  • It surprises me that no one seems to use a boss EQ-200 with a switcher like the G3…

It's an incredibly low-noise and versatile EQ pedal, it's midi programable, and can be split into 2 separate EQ's in series, parallel, or their own loops. It also has the option to store 128 presets.

I have mine set up so that one loop can be used anywhere I like, usually to shape overdrive sounds, or as a boost (btw, EQ pedals are IMO the best poosts possible, this one has 15db of clean gain, and you can bump up the mids for solos to cut through a mix). I can store presets for different drive sounds so that, even though I just use a wampler dual fusion, I can access a tonne of different classic OD sounds with the touch of one button on the switcher.

I have the other loop sent into the FX loop of my amp, I use a studio JTM so this is super useful, allows me to tame the bass where needed.

    I LOVE it.

  • 5 months later I'm still trying to catch my breath after this deep dive, and especially the outro.
Kudos to you both, but especially Dan on this one.
Each time I convince myself that one of your videos simply cannot get any better you two continue to prove me wrong, leaving me speechless!
    Many, many thanks!!! E

  • Hello Dan, i'm wondering why you chose the Harlot v1 than the Harlot v3. Thank you! Regards from the Philippines. ????????????

  • Really clever stuff at work here – thought provoking and yet very practical at the same time. You guys have challenged me many times to rethink what I thought I knew!!
I have to say though, that LVX seems like a musical rabbit hole to waste hours going down, but can't hear anything musical from it for real world stuff – unless I wanted to turn my guitar into synth (we have a keys player who does that bit already 🙂 but I know many don't )

  • Thanks for suggesting that Diamond Compressor. Absolute magical tone sauce. 3x Diamond mk 1 pedals for me in 3 weeks. Vibrato, Phase and now Compressor. 3 of the best pedals I've EVER played. Apples and oranges to modern digital pedals–better: that's subjective, different: objectively yes.

  • I just traded SO much shit to get one of those OG Diamond Vibratos. Dude who's trading it has the new mk2 and says they're a bit different tonally: mk 1 more mid focused and warm and mk 2 more compressed, low passed and "open" -which makes me think it sounds more like a VB2.

  • Thanks Mick and Dan. Dan; what adjustments do you make on the fly when going from single-coils to buckers? Cheers, sh

  • "Happiest I've been with a pedalboard!"…….that has to be a great feeling….thanks for sharing!

  • It’s weird how similar this is to my setup. I play a Telecaster (though through a Fender Vibro Champ) with the Meris Mercury X (which has a lot of CXM inside), Meris LVX, Diamond Vibrato, Diamond Compressor, Jam Harmonious Monk, a Tone Bender replica and the Boss BP-1W preamp. Insane how similar our tastes are, and I don’t even watch this show often, should probably start doing that now!

  • Huge fan of the show! question on fuzz faces or germanium fuzzes. I love putting them after a univibe and wah. Do you think the Impedance Changer pedal from dpFX Pedals (or something similar) would help preserve the fuzz tone and dynamics with the guitar ? I may put the fuzz in its own loop with the Imp Changer and only use them together or neither. Thoughts?

  • Hello Gents, i have an old chestnut of a question for you guys. I am currently running a 4 cable method setup on my pedalboard into an Orange CR 120 pro head. I want o run my blues jr. into an output of either my reverb pedal or other pedal that is stereo. Will that send the amps speakers out of phase? or is that only an issue when running a true stereo setup? Or is is dependent on the blues jr's speaker and the 4×12 cab which are celestion vintage 30's?… thoughts? before you ask why i am not running a true stereo setup, my custom made american loopers 4 cable box doesn't have stereo outs… Cheers mates.

  • Haha! Dan’s really gone down the rabbit hole in this one! I just checked out your guys website, for the first time in yonks. Pleased to see you’re playing at the Cavern on my birthday! I’m in. Looking forward to it ????

  • If you have to a/b for gain illustration, you have too many gain options.

Ps, I am sooo fond of you both.

  • Thanks for the video. Very interesting.
I write in Spanish and Google translates it into your language. Sorry if there are errors.
I have some doubtful questions. I would appreciate your attention
1.- Does using Delay and Rever together in the same loop imply that they always have to be together, on and in the same preset?
2.- In my case, as the final point of the pedalboard, there would be the DSM & Humboldt Simplifier MKII. Is it possible to keep wet and dry parallel?
Would you use the Simplifier effects send and return for stereo modulation, delay and reverb pedals?

    Thanks for the channel
    Greetings

  • You guys designed such a stellar Trem, the eq on that thing is very powerful and much sweeter than the harsh highs on the walrus monument.

  • Have you guys tried the Matchless and Two Rock Classic Reverb together? If so, what was your experience?

  • First time I heard the diamond vibrato it literally haunted my dreams. You guys know if they are making a new one that’s smaller?

  • How on earth did all those great 1970's bands manage on stage without all this clutter?

  • Hey Dan, are your reverb and delay going into the front of both amps? I assume the Bassbreaker does not have an effects loop……

  • Gents! Lovely video. I notice the two mics on either amp are different than what I'm used to seeing, like the Deltas. What kind were these?????

  • Sounds sweeet! Any idea if the OTO Bim tap update is available or is it forthcoming? The materials for the most recent update don’t mention midi cc tap.

Attempting a firmware update on the BIM seems like the closest thing to programming a floppy disc that I will encounter in my lifetime.

  • Dan typifies the G.A.S. the rest of us experience. What pedal is Dan "over the moon" about? Answer: The last one he's heard. I absolutely love his enthusiasm because I feel it whenever I hear a new pedal on TPS! (Fortunately for my finances I'm usually behind on watching and the pedals are already sold out by the time I watch ????)
