Darkglass Electronics HYPER LUMINAL In-Depth Review

Simply the best box-sized compressor pedal I’ve played so far. Three different modes based on real models with their own unique sound details and coloring and that is possible to configure independently via simple but functional Darkglass Suite.
This is most technical review as well (at least the first attempt to do so), now you are about not only hear how pedal works but also see how waveform changes during knob twist.

Pedal features:
BLEND – mixes the clean and effected signals. Unlike our distortions, it is placed before the Output control. So the Hyper Luminal can also be used as a transparent booster with this control at minimum;
TIME – sets the time constants (Attack and Release). You can use the Darkglass Suite to fine tune and custom map the time constants, you can also assign different behaviours for each Mode;
OUTPUT – sets the overall output volume of the unit;
COMPRESSION – sets the overall amount of compression. This control also affects the internal makeup gain;
RATIO – adjusts the amount of compression;
MODE – selects the unit’s Mode (BUS, FET, or SYM);
USB – a micro USB B connector allows you to connect the pedal to PC/Mac to set Time settings, parameters, and future firmware upgrades via the Darkglass Suite.

No post compression, equalization and other types of processing, just bass plugged into pedal. Supplied by 9V BOSS PSA-230s.
