  • After listening back a couple more times a bit more carefully it's interesting to hear the different tones between the guitars with the same pickups. For example the reverse V at 01:58 sounds more…mid-rangey(?) woody(?) than the Relish at 03:24 which is more high endy.

If I were to do this again I'd maybe do all the humbuckers one after another. It's definitely not the most scientific experiment. Either way let me know what you think! And get the tab and other stuff over at https://www.patreon.com/samuraiguitarist if you want to learn the tune.

  • The Telecaster and the Fender strats just sound clear and cuts through all of the sounds and it just sounded better for me.

  • They sounded different but I wouldn't pay for a whole new guitar because most of them are so hard to tell the difference unless they're next to each other.

  • One thing that doesn't come across on video well is the FEEL. the way you feel like the sound responds to the way you feel. In turn, you tend to alter the way you play to compliment the response from the guitar, and so it's really hard to play different guitars exactly the same. My cheap electric has this weird resonance on certain notes around the high G, and in certain chords, these notes stand out of the chord far more than on other guitars, and in some contexts it's annoying so I have to adjust my picking to compensate for that, but in some keys on some chords, it means the flavor notes shine through really well, and is super satisfying

  • How tf can you compare the sound if you play each guitar differently!

  • This is one of the best videos Sammy G has made. It’s not just the novelty of it, but the song itself is incredible.

  • I think the Mary One is absolutely beautiful. So unique. The top part of the body looks like a wave in the ocean, and the wood in the center makes it look earthy and natural. I think it all goes so well with the way it sounds too.

  • I really liked both the player plus strat, and the epiphone jared something or other that followed it. They hockey stick guitar was nice too.
