  • I just subscribed to follow your progress with the 8 string ???? I just recently purchased an Ibanez RG8. I'm currently used to 7 string which took practice from the feel of the 6 string. I'm also starting my own journey with the 8 string so I'm excited to travel with you. Keep us updated brother and I appreciate your content

  • It’s a big daft, having extra two strings, and then I think, “I’ve a Bass IV!” I’ll shut up now.

  • Had the RB458 in the straight Single scale Version. I also Tried the low strings tunes to A and E to accompany myself with bass Tones, but i didn't get along with the concept of 8/7-Strings.

  • For me its a blaggernsddifriickl type off guitar, two strings to much for the guitarist, four strings to much for the bassplayer….. so, blaggernsddifriickl!

  • I'll stick to another creature with eight "arms" in this case – very tasty when lightly seasoned, coated, and deep fried! Can't even bring myself to look at a five-string bass….

  • Thanks for the review!

Next month I'll get my Christmas bonus and I'll buy the 7 and 8 String version of this guitar. Maybe the 6 String, too if I can continue not smoking.

They seem to be solid guitars for a decent price and the finish is outright gorgeous. They are an absolute steal at this price. I also plan on upgrading them in the long run with better nuts und locking tuners + new pickups. I have EMG 81/85 laying around for the 6 String and I might go for DiMarzio Crunch Lab/Liquifire for the 7 and Fishman Fluence for the 8. Even with the upgrades they're way cheaper than a comparable guitar from any other brand.

  • I play a 7 in the studio, what i do is tune it to an open C minor 7th with the first three strings as a powerchord. I use those Korn signature strings.

Im aware this is not traditional in any sense, im not a guitarist by any means, i make industrial music, but its really fun for quick riffing.

The open top strings mean you can play pretty much any in scale note on the bottom three strings and the top ones add a fancy chord extension when they ring out

Im explaining this in my non-guitar player speak so it probably makes no sense, but its how i found the confortable in-between of chugging and playing chords.

If this somehow did make sense, i hope it helps!

  • "I've no idea what I'm doing"
Proceeds to write the equivalent of several Deathcore, Metalcore and Post Hardcore songs plus a funky jam ????

  • Ivr never seen the need for a 7 or 8 string unless, if you break a string or two you don't have to buy extra strings, maybe. Lol.

  • I loved my 7 and 8 stringers Ibanezzes and Harley Bentons. I think most of us had this crazy experience changing to these monstrous fretboards and scale lenghts. Nowadays i play a 30 inch baritone six stringer which is kinda funny because in front of it there stands my squier mustang with 24 inch scale lenght. Changing from the baritone to the mutsang feels like playing a toys toy ????

  • Wow ????, it took me by surprise that Steve. I’d be lost on that beast, although I imagine if your into that stuff it’s a good guitar! Looks lovely too, anyway another great installation Steve. I hope your computer issues are remedied soon mate ????

  • Far too many strings, i would classify that as a guitar shaped harp. best of luck with it. We'll see it on the next Coconut Grove video.????????????

  • What do you do with an 8-String guitar? Try searching YouTube for "Mental Cruelty – Symphony of a Dying Star – Guitar Cover"!

  • you handled the low notes well. i don't usually tune down to f#1, i prefer a nice light g1 personally, but if you're planning on dropping it to e1 and a1 you are going to need a string tension calculator to choose some heavier gauges even with the fanned scale. i would also consider adding more fret markers below the stock ones so you can tell what strings you're playing. i exclusively play 7 strings and still get lost in the mess of wire at times
