TONEX And PA Face-Off Guitar Amp – EV Evolve 50M
In today’s video Paul and James from The Studio Rats are at THOMANN in Germany seeing if the TONEX Pedal and the EV EVOLVE 50M PA can compete with a Soldano SLO Amplifier.
Guitar players (including myself) love the sound or a guitar going through a valve amp cranked up flapping our trousers, but a lot of modern stages now require the stage to be silent. While we were at THOMANN in Germany we thought we would compare the sound coming from a SOLDANO SLO 30 to a TONEX pedal going through a EV EVOLVE 50M PA system

That Soldano sounds juicy. Roll a bit of low end ioff on that pedal and it would sound better i'd say
not even close. tonex sounds like ass.
Way different speakers give you way different results.
Hello, how does it sounds in a clean amp?
The pedal I use does all I need pretty much the Boss 1000 core
Be great if you could thro me a Bone????????????
Ill be over the moon when I know how to set up my guitar with the PA system
Are you going Guitar to pedal, Pedal to Mixer, then Mixer to PA or are you going straight through the PA ?
Hi guys im on a mission at the moment trying to find the best way to setup my guitar through my PRX 1 JBL any tips I know there are posibly many ways but what do you think is best. I don't really know what im doing all this high tech stuff ? I just wanna know the best way to get great tones sounds from guitar through the PA????
real amp MUCH BETTER SOUND full freq ,, tonex tiny and fizz sound , as all digital toys
Slight difference…but in the mix you would never know when playing live
I know which one sounds better in band situation and so should you.
The video i've been looking for.
Ofcourse real amp is more organic sound,, but in this era, using pa, stage, simplicity, has more common, and i think tonex has a good one to handle this..
Why was the sound through the EV getting quieter then louder, quieter then louder?
I can’t stand people saying how better is the real thing when if blindfolded would not understand a thing
Is that a Seymour Duncan 200 on top of the Amp? Do you use it with your tonex pedal?
Ill take the amp and cab every day, never been interested in simulations of anything doesn’t matter how good it is, ill take the real thing it has soul, each to their own tho.
Great comparison chaps! Both sound mega.
They both sound great, but you can get a tonex one for under $200 buck. You certainly can't get a Soldano head and cab for that much.
It wont get closer miced. It was alread captured with a mic.
Is it a 1/4 inch jack to xlr for the connection to the pa? Thanks.
The amp sounded much better.. the PA seem to filter the mids out.
Why do comparison of the two when you are not EQ in them to even sound remote close to the same
listening on headphones, just when the said which sounds best, I was thinking the same. Lol. although in a band setting it might be different
Your Tonex capture sounds too Harsh to my ears
The Soldano SLO30 sounds a lot nicer compared to the Tonex. The Tonex thru the PA sounds very compressed and dark.
What is the most affordable PA that does this comparison justice? Not the same, but justice in light of the cost and logistical advantages of the ToneX? Danish Pete made the Positive Grid Spark Live sound amazing. What's available for even less than the Spark LIve $600 or so that does the ToneX (or Positive Grid app) justice?
The amp was a little richer in the low mid but the Tonex sounded fine.
I'm getting more and more interested in the Tonex One for the small gigs I play. I'd love to know how it would respond to a boost in front of it, just using one preset as my amp into a PA with my Clapton Strat for anything from clean to lead.
