Analog VS Digital – Boss Katana VS Orange Crush – Solid State Battle ????
Sound comparison of the Boss Katana 50 Mkii and Orange Crush 35 RT combos. Two amps in the same price bracket but have very different designs. The Orange is analog and the Boss uses digital DSP in its preamp, both have solid state power amps.

This is a terrible demo ????
I am using still, line 6 spider
Orange rulezz ????????????
Orange sounds more ”real” for sure. There is a huge EQ curve difference between the 2, I think the review would be more telling if the EQ settings were matched a bit better. As is the Orange is overly bassy and Katana lacks bass.
This made me madd u made katana sound like trash i can make katana sound like a monster
Person dialing this in is ass
Iv boss katana mine sounds thousand times better
Very thorough comparison of tones between Crush 35RT and Kat 50 Mk2!
Please tell me what's that song at 0:37
digital is una bosta horrible pwm not original sound.
I’ve got the Orange Crush Pro120W and the orange’s gain structure is just fantastic. It must make a really naturally spiky sound because the frequency of distortion is seemingly low. It sounds just so huge and warm and thick.
Orange wins. Warmer sound. Boss is brittle sounding.
The only bad thing about the Katana amp is the speaker which seems more on the higher end. The rest of the amp is perfect
orange ia better……. …..
orance sounds better, but boss takana its a more versatile amp for everything
boss here.. clear and solid
I like the sound of boss katana here it's very clear sound than orange
Boss or JC120 for a mic'd modulation pedal would be ok. But there better be a b channel going to an Orange super crush!
Katanas are really good for setting the Orange amp and speakers on. Gets them off the floor.
Orange sounds more natural
Katana sound better – cleaner
I'm a weirdo by liking better the boss tone?
My cousin left this amp here for practice. I definitely like it way better than the Katana and my fender champion xl for distortion. For clean, I love the Fender Champion 50XL though. That low end is awesome.
The cleans on the Crush almost made me cry. The same part played through the Boss just didn't make me "feel it".
The overdriven Orange tone was great too. It sounded passionate while the Boss merely sounded crunchy. The tones in this Orange somehow just seem to have a lot of heart.
BOSS sounds so plastic!
The BOSS Roland cleans and the Orange gain, I think if you recorded with both amps it would be the best combination for where the tonal sweet spots are for both amps.
Very interesting comparison. Thank you.
Katana
Orange is breathing :). The sound in Katana is a little dead comparing to real thing..
Katana has waay more options for tone shaping thus it’s far easier to mess up the tone. The 12 o’clock (minimun impact) settings on katana are usually not so convincing. I have 2 mk1 100W katanas, 3 solidstate amps (carlsbro, cort, cube..), 2 valve amps.. absolutely never regretted buying katanas..
katana suena como un plugin de FL
Orange everyday
Orange is warmer
Orange Crush 35RT
I prefer the Boss dynamic…Orange is more mediumish boxy sound for me, but orange sound more " natural" …difficult choise.
Honestly i think the katana did very well and it sounded better than orange for metal porpuses…katana has more open mids and dry drives which are better for playing metal
Boss has much deeper sound.
Analog ist Best. Digital nebrat !!
Digital is better
Yep Orange, Boss to thin.
Orange crushed it
First riff is so catchy, i wish there were tabs for it
Orange Crush
I realize that not many guitar buyers play for a living.
But if you use a tube amp set at the edge of breakup you will notice in a club that everytime a large appliance comes on like a smoke eater or AC etc, the current will drop just enough to alter your tone.
Now if you srey " big time" you will have all kinds of voltage regulator/ juice goose type equipment but those of us playing in honky tonks hate the way tube amp's tone changes due to current fluctuations, temperature fluctuations and or microphonic tubes .
No one ever talks about this.
Most guitar owners arent working 300 nights a year in a honky tonk are they.
Only who lived 90´s knows what level we came
Orange ????
Listen to the high gain part. I dont like boss at all but orange is not for this part.
Both sound good
