Thanks for the video. Duck is the reason I became a bass player!
Love that pickguard. Where did you get it?
Brilliant lesson again thanks very much.
You mentioned Jamerson and never playing the same thing twice, improvisation on chord. Is there anyone today playing like him and being on a label
Dan u da man! I just found this one and again it is just a quality insight to bass. Thanks
That's how u conduct a lesson!
like Duck Dunn very well done sounds good! in Blues Brothers there's Duck..
" Psycho Killers"
Talking heads enjoy their work always in good taste..
Finally a video with the G string in use, thought maybe the bass should have 3 strings ????. Amazing how less is more on the bass.
Just viewed this coming off the back of your Soul, RnB and Motown book. Anyone just finding this video and loves this style of music, I highly endorse Dan’s book. Someone else on here said these videos save 3-6 month of practice, I agree, there is so much more material one can take from these lessons and the books to emerge yourself in. Personally, my bass playing has, since subscribing to Dan’s channel has reached a level that has even surprised me.
Dan Soul Man Hawkins…amazing bassist, brilliant teacher, star, and a true legend.
Jamerson was rooted in jazz where Dunn was rooted in blues. That’s why James rarely repeats and Duck stays home…
Nice vid. Subbed.
Excellent tone, no clunking like all those others, just clear deep bass.
do you have your tone rolled off?
I'm learning about using 6th right now. Great vid. Great tone too
That tone is just killer.
Great lesson AGAIN. I’m a beginner and I feel like each video contains 3/6 months of practice material???? ????????
Hey there! I would like to learn bass. What type of bass would you recommend tone and budget wise for soul/funk? Also, I’m left handed
great playing sounds like your playing the 52 110 labellas?
Dunn is a learned “soul” player for stax. He’s another one who listened to the black real soul players and imitated them. Let’s be quite honest.
Great analysis of Duck's playing. I've been focusing on his style lately and he really was the foundation of the songs he played on.
Great lesson ????????????????????????
Do you use rounds or flats? Your tone is the pinnacle P-bass tone and I really dig it. Also great video man.
Thanks for the reply Dan. I'm currently working through the 7 online lessons. I'll have some questions for you soon. Cheers.
