  • R.J.,Yes this is a great amp I watched Michael L live at a gig it just sound amazing ,anyway your playing is always on point and thanks for another great video.

  • I have a Hot Rod Deluxe that I’ve used for 20 plus years that way. If you ever get a chance to play through a Super Twin Reverb, check it out if you need a really loud Fender clean sound. Kick my self for selling mine, but realistically it was more than I needed.

  • Amp modeler into the mixer, period…. So few people, even professionals, can differentiate an amp from an amp modeler so I stopped lugging all that crap around and made my gigging life way easier and lots more affordable.

  • Ron, big fan, and I really like your video content and the way you play. But we disagree on this one. The DeVille is a wonderful amp. But one only needs about 25 watts to get above the drums clean, if you need more just mic the amp. This is coming from an aging guitarist who looks at the weight of a 56 Lb DeVille as opposed to a 42 Lb Deluxe Reverb. My arthritic @$$ actually mostly prefers a mic’d up Princeton Reverb for that reason! Very good video by the way.

  • Older HRD's and DeVille's both have a rather spotty reputation due to issues with the power resistors cooking the PCB and causing problems

  • I've got 4 Fender Deluxe Amps may use 2 in stereo , all ways thought the dirty channels were a waste of time .

  • oh the amount of useless gear videos people put out these days. "the perfect", "only", "the best" "you need this" blah blah. and this amp is far from perfect. maybe "perfect" for you..

  • Most useful tip out of this video: For high headroom amps, place the harshest fizzy sounding drive pedal at the beginning of the chain. And if you want to smooth out its tone place another (preferably transparent sounding) drive pedal after that giving the amp a little bit of break up. You'd be surprised with the results. Even my infamous Boss DS-1 is shining 🙂

  • I have a hot rod deville 410. I changed the volume pot so you can actually use it and not shoot all the way to 10 when you reach 3. Sounds great. But my Vox ac30 is a better pedal platform in my opinion.

  • Ive had my 1994 blues deville 2×12 going on 7 years now. It still amazes me on how solid and defined this amp is. Slovtec tubes and creamback 65&75 watt combination speakers. Astounding punch, clarity and distinctive deville all round goodness!

  • I have a blonde reissue 410 (II) and definitely keeping it this time around. Such a cool amp, big mean vintage vibe.

  • Back in the day, in my mid-20's, I used a Digitech GSP 2101 into the power amp in on a mid 90s tweed Fender Blues DeVille, and it was one of the greatest, most versatile setups I ever had to that point, and directly led to nothing but creativity. One of the most important decisions I ever made.

  • I had an original 4×10 deville, then I traded it of a 2×12 deville, then I sold it for a Deluxe Reverb, then I bought a Deluxe 1×12 and then sold it……I wish I had my original Deville 4×10, it was a great amp. It's funny how sometimes you just come back home. Great video, Thank you!

  • I have a late 90's hot rod deville 410. Made in USA and tweed. Its the only thing i ever bought on layaway. I think it was around $700. Great for pedals.

  • I have 2 of these just because I’m afraid they’ll shoot up in price and I won’t be able to get another

  • Fender circuit board tube amps are disposable chit — they can sound good but run too hot and will burnout sooner than later.

  • My fractal sounds just as good. Lightweight, easy transport, consistent no matter the venue. I used to be an amp snob but no more since modeling technology has become so good.

  • Did you not select the brightness button in this review?? I have this amp and I find that the brightness button helps the neck pickups.
I thought I read that according to M. Landau's words, this Amp is made for his bridge pickup. Greetings from Chile.

  • Fender inc “Produces work with frequent errors, indicating a lack of attention to detail.” “Fails to meet quality standards consistently, resulting in the need for frequent revisions.” “Delivers subpar work that does not meet expectations or requirements.”
Try and find a 2008 Tone king Meteor II, Suhr Badger, Zinky Saraha, Mojo tone Deluxe kit.
If your going to spend that amount on a cheaply made pos, Cry once and be done with it. You'll notice a big difference in the live band situation. no mud or smears.

  • The only one I ever enjoyed was the blues jr. The larger models break up in a pretty gross way and in my opinion don’t handle driven or compressed signals very well. If you’re gonna spend more that 1000 I’d go deluxe reverb every time.

  • Great amp!!! I'm a biased owner of one, though. I use it at home on volume 2, shaping the tone and adding a very slight gristle with a wampler tumnus. Sounds massive with a good fuzz in front 🙂 the reverb in the amp is NOT a real spring reverb, but does a very good job mimicing the real deal. (A note for all the vigilantes there – the amp wont splash when you smash it in the end of your concerts!)

  • great amp. However, if you are on a budget, the BOSS Katana is another great amp that also handles pedals very well.

  • I had one when they came out, that I used for recording and gigging. It was very loud and very heavy. I sold it because I thought the amp sounded too sterile

  • All that modern Fenders sound the same…I prefer to buy any Silverface amp. Cheaper and way better..

    Reply
  • I saw the punk band The Smoking Popes recently and I believe this is what Josh Caterer and his rhythm guitarist were using and they sounded sweet. Josh uses a Box Of Rock overdrive with the amp

  • Great video! I agree with using a clean amp and getting the best tones through pedals. I have played with two guys with these DeVille’s and I personally didn’t like them but this is a new mod on that amp. 60 watts is too loud for any gigs that I have played and 20-28 watts has been better. For example a Carr Rambler where the high setting is 28 watts or better these days my Fuchs Blackjack 21 combo, to me is the best pedal platform that I have.

  • I really want a Blues Deville with the 4 tens. I’ve got a Blues Deluxe with the 1×12 and I think they would pair nicely together with a Supro Black Magick Reverb for my live rig.
I played my Brother’s Hotrod Deville and it is a very cool amp. It was definitely too much in my little guitar room. ????
But I think I like the more classic Fender tone from the Blues Deville vs. the Hotrod. But I could be crazy. ????

  • Dude min 50w? what kinda drummer are you trying to get over. A Pro Jr will get over a drummer fine. Great playing by the way. I bet you sound same with a pro jr
