Welcome to this episode 65 of the Week in Gear, where I break down the latest and greatest in guitar gear. Behringer hits us with the ‘69 Vibe’ and ‘Bass Brass Master Fuzz,’ two budget pedals that bring vintage-inspired tones at prices anyone can afford. Then, we delve into the Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ reissue—a dream amp for tone purists and Metallica fans alike, though its premium price may require a second mortgage. Gibson joins the fray with the updated Les Paul Studio, now packing versatile features like push-pull pots and weight relief, but it raises the question: does a studio guitar need to cost over 2 grand?

The problem is more due to dollar devalutuon than anything. But the have the tribute line, which are nice guitars. I think the studio has more graduated.
People pay $2000 for a piece of wood ?
I'm quite a mesa fan, and I need to check out their newer stuff. Thanks for the reminder 😀
This Gibson studio session reminds me a lot to my honey burst tribute. Slim neck, 57 pickups, modern electronics, modern neck heel.
And yes, this makes a lot of sense cause you get a guitar easy and modern to play up to the highest fret with the classic Gibson midrange sound. Not everyone wants to play a baseball bat for that sound ????- for me it's my goto fiddlearoundandtrystuff guitar which can do more sounds as my classic LPs.
Every time Gibson changes stuff they get a huge bash cause they change stuff. And at the same time everybody bashes cause they never change stuff … guitar players are weird sometimes …
Price … these seem to be built better as the older Studios (I needed fret files for all of my cheaper Gibsons) – but 400 more for different pots …
Make the Studio 1500 and this 100 bucks more. But it seems like it needs to hurt when buying a Gibson, it's part of the experience.
The Ball family has fucked over guitar innovators decades, from Leo Fender and George Fullerton to PMT.
Synergy makes a IICP preamp module designed by Steve Fryette, who maintained a friendship with Randall Smith for years. They also make a Soldano SLO module, one discontinued and a recent successor, designed by Mike Soldano.
Smaller boutique builders paying good wages in our countries in low numbers etc aren't ripping us off, their costs are much higher. But these big brand ones mass manufacturing high volume in cheap labour countries and charging massive markups sure as shit are.
Ive tried thst Mesa Boogie. It's fucking loud but a few grand out of my reach. So I may rent one to mess around with. That or play one until Guitar Center kicks me out.
Well … a Standard is already a unicorn for most people unless buying used, Gibson is even more out of touch than before … I never thought that possible. … If you are not stuck on the name on the headstock go try a higher end Yamaha Revstar before buying anything Gibson, you're welcome.
So Mesa are now focusing on the past and increasing the price having been snagged by Gibson and Mr Smith being ousted? What a surprise. Almost as unsurprising as Gibson continuing to segment the LP model into complete consumer confusion and frustration.
'No fuzz means you've failed as a musician!'
Wow! That quote needs to be on a shirt and requoted for the rest of history.
69! ????
$2k guitar with no body binding ??
All talk, no action, boring video, three minutes, switched off.
Moaning about Gibson pricing is basically admitting you don’t understand inflation.
Two grand plus for a Les Paul Studio? F*** *
I just love the look of the Valentines
Where is my Pepto? I got gas.
Glad I got a Les Paul Studio for £899 back in 2017. Came with a hard case as well.
£2000 is bonkers.
I just found this channel on my recommended section. Seems entertaining and informative.
Why "are" .. oh you're British nvm
YouTube has started running hair transplant ads on your vids for me. No offense but if I went for a hair transplant and came out with an ‘Andy’ I’m not sure quite how I’d feel….. ????
BTW it’s WAAAY too late for a transplant YouTube! Stop taking the piss!
I didn't know that you were in austria.
That Boogie amp has me reaching for my trusty ANALOG modeler. Thank you Peavey Tube 60. Used for 350. Get em, kids. Best combo amp ever made.
Andrew: are you insinuating there may be a weakness in a particular brand headstock? ????
69
Hehehehehehehe
You asked for pronunciation help…the word is Mesa with a S not a Z. You're welcome.???? Like this: "May Sa" not Meh Za
I saw some of those Gibson ads and thought the same…how are these young people affording these guitars…unless they are all trust fund babies????
All I need to know is when the Behringer pedals come out in the U.S.!
Love Behringer
Agree on the Studio Session. 50s neck would have been my choice instead of slim taper. Classic 57 humbuckers are fine
7:06 game me a good chuckle 🙂
