  • Regarding the Westcreek guitar in this video, I am suggesting the JX-20 model but was showing a Westcreek double cut as an example of the "2-3 Westcreeks I've checked out" but I see from the comments now that this was confusing. Sorry about that.

  • I couldn't agree more ! Don't get me wrong i love my Gibsons I've owned dozens threw the last 40 years of playing And currently still own 3 Gibson LP's. But i can't justify paying 3-12K all the time especially seeing 40yrs ago u could get a Gibson LP for under $300. The inflation is insane the sad part a lot of these big brand guitars aren't worth the money anymore especially Gibson. The fact that today u can spend $200-500 on a guitar and some good pups and with a little bit of elbow grease have a guitar that sounds and plays just as good as any 10x its price tag.I think its great for the soul of guitar playing now anyone who wants to play can have a real nice guitar for next to nothing.

  • I have a Harley Benton Les Paul Jr. style model. It's awesome…. It is solid and great quality. Every bit as good as my Gibson Les paul Special. I thought I was going to put a Gibson P-90 in it and grover tuners, but No I'm not. The stock tuners hold great, and the stock pickup sounds so good I'm not changing it. Hail to Harley Benton for offering real quality at an unheard of bargin price! $184 but you will have to spend more on shipping if you get it from Thomann music. I did not know of the USA wherehouse.

  • Guitar player since 1964. Have many expensive acoustics in my collection…. and yeah, I know this is about electrics…. But several years ago I stopped into the Guitar Center in town just to idly look around. They had a nice collection of used instruments, and they had just gotten in several brand new Mitchell D120 Mahogany/Sitka dreads that had $129 price tags on ‘em…. I HAD to try one.

Boy was I impressed! It sounded great! So I then played all six Mitchells in turn. Wouldn’t you know the best sounding one of the six had a postage stamp sized blemish on the back where some bozo had smacked it into something when handling it. But it sounded so good, I asked the manager what he could do about a damage discount. He said he’d let me have it for $85 bucks plus sales tax. For $90.10 I walked out with one of the best sounding acoustics I own. It compares favorably with any of the four Martin D18s I own, including my 2007 D18 Golden Era.

If you want the great warm sound of a Mahogany/Sitka dread with scalloped forward shifted X-Bracing for little more than pocket change, you can’t beat the Mitchell D120, even at today’s $149 retail… To quote Richard Rawlings from Gas Monkey Garage, “Get You Some of That!”

Final Tip: Put Elixir 11182 Nanoweb Heavy Duty Light strings on it. It will amaze you!

    SP5 Old Curmudgeon

US Army Vietnam Veteran 1969-70…. and still…

  • I got that double cutaway LP Jr from Westcreek with the single P90 and it's a boss. Same with the FFTL. The fretwork is also amazing and for the cost of some pretty minor upgrades and a setup and you've got a guitar that can easily hold it's own with a guitar that costs 4 times as much and has an expensive logo on it.

  • Back in the mid 90's I had an Epiphone strat style, I think it was around $300, That guitar was terrible, never stayed tuned and the action was brutal high and no matter what I did the neck was warped. In 2015ish I bought a Gretsch G5425 Electromatic for $30. That was a phenominal guitar, everything was perfect it played amazing sound great. Same price but leagues apart. Cheap guitars have gotten so much better. It really is an amazing time to be a musician.

  • Max thank you again for your videos. You're always great to watch and your videos are well produced. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you're keeping the guitar alive. Younger folks sometimes can't afford expensive gear so you're doing rock music a huge service by helping and guiding them through the maze. You are appreciated man!

  • Leo Jaymz guitars are solid build quality, but the fretwork it bad and the electronics are absolutely atrocious.

  • Who else saw a video from Guitar Max with the title 'The Truth About Harley Benton' that vanished saying the video was no longer available? I saw it about 20mins ago but it vanished soon as I clicked on it and can't find it anywhere now.
