I have the Squier classic 60s P bass in Fiesta red, like the one you show. You're right; it is a steal for the price and sounds like a more expensive bass. It could be played at a gig or even a studio session. I also own a classic vibe '60s Jazz bass, and the same goes for that one, I would put it in the same category. Both are a steal for the price and you could gig them. In fact, I prefer to play my Squier Jazz bass over my 1983 Fender Jazz bass.
I play EBMM StingRay Specials almost exclusively. Over the past 35 years I've owned and played almost every known brand of bass guitar out there. And when I first picked up a StingRay Special in 2018, it just felt like it was made for me. I love everything about it, so much so that I now own 10 of them in various colorways and configurations. Thanks for the vids, brother!
I just realized you got a reverse trump thing goin on! Maybe it's just the stripes, but it looks like you have a normal sized guy doin the arms and hands! Look at these mits!!!
ill take my ol Peavy anyday
Wow. I didn’t expect to see the Stingray as number one. I’ve been playing my Stingray 5 since the 90’s. My Rickenbacker has taken a back seat since then. I really should take it out again though. Anyway, great job, Danny. I really enjoy your channel. Greetings from Montreal.

I own a 2004 EBMM Stingray and a Sterling Joe Dart Stingray. They are spectacular instruments.
I have a MusicMan Sterling. The very best❤
No Burns?
I lke the Stingray very much. I owned one, a 1983 but had to sell it to pay the rent. Aaaaargh…. but I dislike all the other behsses you showed, especially the Rick.
Really dislike this guy’s voice
If you ever get fed up of playing behs, you could quite easily do stand up comedy!
When you say “short scale” does that mean a shorter neck?
my dad owned a rick bass, the 4003 i guess , in the sunburst. the VERY FIRST PICTURE U SHOWED WAS MY BASS, no cover… i played it loved it, then one day came home… IT WAS GONE AND MY DADS JCM 800 tube head and 1960 ab cab marshall was gone too….. found out these kids from around the way, knew about my band and stuff, broke into the house, stole my bass and the amp…no clue how they stole it but they did, went to guitar center. FOUND OUT WHO DID IT, but gutiar center already SOLD THE HEAD AND THE RICKBASS…. they still have the marshall cab though.(the wiring was messed up so it didnt sell right away)both amp head and bass sold to the same person , the first day it was on sale (which was the day after they sold the head/bass) i found out who did it, went to ALL THREEE kids PARENTS TOLD THEM AND SHOWED THEM I HAVE ALL THE INFOMATION ON THEM , PICTURES VIDEO OF THEM SELLING THE AMPS ….so they where gonna get charged with (residental burglery, which in america is a STRIKE and 3-5 years in prison (first time offenders get a strike and 1 year in prison) thats just stealing it, then poessiession of stolen property (thats a couple months in jail) also selling stolen property, *(it adds to the couple months maybe another 2 months) so all the kids where looking at about 4 years in prison with a STRIKE…. i knew one of the kids (i literally just got out of 5 months in jail , so i know how bad it was ) told the parent of 1 of the kids, (who i acutally knew from school) that the police had all the infomation i have and that we are gonna press charges if u dont get my amps back or buy me something that is in line with what u stole…. OH BTW I WENT TO ALL THE FAMILYS , 2 out of 3 said FUCK MY SELF….the LAST FAMILY WHO I KNEW , acutally had SOME BRAINCELLS LEFT IN THERE HEAD , and they agreed to buying me the amps that i wanted ….cause the dad knew he did it cause they also bought a DRUM SET WITH THE MONEY *the drum set was at that kids house and the dad was wondering how they got it, and now it all made sense……so the dad me and my dad went to guitar center…and bought me a MESA BOOGIE DUAL REC SOLO HEAD… and a p bass that was like 400 bucks… yeah i got some amazing stuff after but , u cant replace a JCM 800 and a RICK BASS from the 70's… the reason i went ot the parents is cause i didnt want to see these kids loose there entire life over a mistake they made, i was making them also cause of drugs, STUFF I WOULD NEVER HAVE DONE…so i felt bad……and i felt talking to them was the right thing to do….. SHOULD I HAVE CALLED THE POLICE AND LET THE KIDS GO TO JAIL OR DO WHAT I DID?????
I had an Epiphone Thunderbird Goth bass and absolutely hated it. Horrible balance and major neck dive, horrible 3 point bridge sucked for adjusting the action, body isn't contoured, and I could go on and on about how bad it is. Ordered it before trying it and sold it shortly after getting it. I don't know why anyone likes them. Cool looking but horribly designed. The 3 best basses I've personally owned are: American made G&L L-2000 (loved the pups and electronics) LTD Surveyor 400 (EMG pups and preamp, Wilkinson bridge and the thinnest fastest neck I've ever touched) and a cheap Ibanez RD300 cause it's basically a cheap EBMM Stingray copy but the EBMM style pup at the bridge sounds just like a Stingray pup. And it's passive.
I love my Ray5, Thunderbird & short scale (Mini) P-Bass – All cost me under £450 new or used ????
I have a 2018 P bass elite, active position is a thumping machine. A little heavier than a standard P but man I get excited to pick it up every time. Having bigger hands, short scale models feel small. To each their own.
Is this guy English or Scottish with a English accent?? Maybe Newcastle??
Looks over to my Stingray….”did you hear him? Number 1!”
I wish I could ask Danny if all of these 10 basses were passive…
football… not soccer ????
????
I Thunderbirds might be one of most attractive, personally. Played several in shops to try and KNOW I want one but a bit out of my budget right now… One day!
stingray lovers rejoice
I play a MM Stingray five for almost thirty years now and I‘m still impressed by it‘s handling and especially the sound. When I bought it, the other possible choice was an Ibanez ATK. And I still don‘t regret having payed 2000 bucks more than the Ibanez would‘ve cost me. And since last year I‘m also the proud owner of a '75 Rickenbacker 4001.
Where is the Brand, of Bass,????????
You look like a virgin in all these clips Danny
"strategically Shaped Cockatoo" is wild
You’re definitely punching above your weight Danny.
My 08 Squier P is my work horse, though heavily modified. ECS 1/4" Pups (wound hot), cloth "push back" wiring 500k pots, .30 cap. in place of .45, high mass bridge and tuners, brass nut, and light gauge stainless roundwounds. It's the bass I pick up most and is fun to play.
Thanks for this. Looking to start bass guitar. Trying to find something under £600 not made in China or Indonesia. Not sure they exist. Will wait for something secondhand instead
Your girlfriend is beautiful
Seems pretty disingenuous that 70% of them were low end imports. Surelt you've played an American Precision that you liked better than rhe Squier?
I never realised I watched so many videos from you at Gears4Music back then
Always something new and genuine here, an oasis for bassists or for whom they try to become.
Very new effort and quite important to support, intending to laugh about about the too-serious bass experts that know every since. Being them the masters of our all.
We can do better than seeing what they show and Danny Sapko shows how it is. Before forgetting or throwing away our beloved instrument. Thank You, Sapko!
We can be good. Well, even if we don't play as Scott and Ian do (who ever know where and when they played?) we can be in our place a make a line for a song being different by some ideas, even if not the best in town.
Beginning with this strange ideas of what a line should be, more than 90% of the basslines that we know, they would never been recorded. They would have been a shame to hide. That's the 80s'. And more.
Some great exceptions.
An MIK Epiphone VIola is even more Hofner than the Rumble Cat–and also stands up to Hofner at one-third of the idiot Beatle mark-up.
I scratched up enough cash in 2014 to get a Stingray HH, and it's the only bass I've had since. They're amazing instruments.
i wish the 90s punk bands never got into the stingray basses, they sounded horrible to me in that application (way to go, mark hoppus, eeesh). to me they sound perfectly voiced for slapping and i guess funk sort of stuff, just not picked in a punk band … but anyways, my fav bass is my squier jaguar, short scale version, it's been great. but i guess i'm of a guitar player, so maybe my opinion doesn't matter.
No Warwick? Shame, those things can growl like the best of em.
Football lost me ????
Bro, shut up and play
Have a 94 precession Japanese with the foto flame Hamburglar print , sounds amazing & a ricky 4003 1992
Agree the ricky is not for everyone but for me it suits . But the fender is my go to
Yay, he approves of Squier. I recently picked up a Classic Vibe Jazz. After upgrading the pickups and bridge it's incredible.
I have an Epi Les Paul Special, Jack Casady goldtop and a Fender Jazz
All different, but when playing, they are all my favourites.
Dude, ANY bass would sound great in your hands!
