What does Herb mean in his video lessons when he says he uses chord shapes? Thanks. He will demonstrate a chord shape for instance a C9 then proceed to play lines or phrases that visually do not resemble the chord shape he just demonstrated. What am I missing? Trying to understand.

I have a polytone mini brute 1 amp and I'm recording with logic audio, using just a little compressor and reverb, that's all.
