Can a Fender Tone Master amp handle higher gain? | The FiftyNiner Winder Show S01E08
Season finale of the “FiftyNiner Winder Show”. Thanks for coming along for the ride!
In this episode, you get to essentially watch a tone chasin’ die-hard tube amp guy experience a digital modelling guitar amplifier for the first time, the Super Reverb Tone Master amp from Fender. We fly by the seat of our pants on this show, and this amp was rented the morning of the same day this video was created and uploaded.
I had been searching for a video showing these amps being used with more gain than just light break up and mild Overdrive. Not being sponsored or paid by Fender to showcase this amp, you get an honest effort in showing what this amp is really like. Knowing full well that I may be using this amp far beyond it’s designed intentions, the experience ends up surprising me in the end.
A Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or whatever else you may be celebrating or taking time off for… See you in the new year.

I have a first generation Revv G3 and the Blonde Twin Tone Master and find that I have to run the pedal into the Normal channel with the bright switch on and the treble in between 4 and 5. With the bright switch off, it’s really dark and muffled sounding but responds much better with the switch in the up position on the amp. It gets pretty loud at 85 watts but sounds way bigger and fuller at that attenuator setting. I have yet to take it to practice at my friend’s apartment and get his opinion on the tone but I’m pretty sure it works well to my ears. It’s too bad i don’t have a bigger practice space to try it at band volume. Your Bogner pedal sounded great as well as the silver horse.
Thankyou! I’ve been waiting for this exact walkthrough with gain stages etc. i was sold at cleans but totally get your impression with gains. ✌????
Thank you posting this. If I may add my two pesos (value adjusted for inflation). For most of the higher gain tones a 4×12 cab, or the Marshall DSL40CR 1×12 combo which is cheaper than any of Tone Master amps.
