Royal Blood Effects with 4 Pedals and 1 Amp

Following on from my explanation of how to improve your existing bass effects with the LS-2, find out how to get Royal Blood style effects with the Boss Line Splitter, and 3 other pedals.

This video follows on from the Boss LS2 explanation video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtyQBC9DKaE

And the setup in this video is meant to be an alternative to the 2 pedal 2 amp setup, which I demo here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yArjQRJqUTI

  • Great trick! I know it's an old video and I don't expect you to reply, but in case you see this message: in this configuration (attached to the LS2), can I still use the tuner for what it is without making noise (like when it's used alone)?

  • quick question: is possible with 3 pedals and 1 amp? For example: Bass signal to the micro pog input. Then: effect out -> overdrive -> Input on the line selector. For the other hand, the dry signal from the micro pog -> return A. In that way, if you set the "A – By pass mode" on the line selector, you would be able to kill the dry signal (clean bass) and keep the "Effect signal" from the micro pog. It would be possible? (i´m not the owner of any of these pedals hahaha. I don´t know if it will work.

    Great video! thanks a lot!

  • Great video, by the way, i have two questions. First, Can i use another tuner? Or does it have to be a boss?
And second, What do i need to use the ls2 as a power supply?

  • While in Lockdown, this has been a great project, while following your videos for guidance.
I started with the cheap set up but I just didn't find it accurate enough for me.
So I went with this set up
However I found that putting a booser before the line selector on the right, really gives it a better feel.
For the likes of out of the black, at the end of the song I play guitar only, then bass and guitar then when it really comes together at the end I kick on the booster, it really sounds great like that 🙂
And for the song sleep at the start you can play the guitar only and then boost the guitar just like it songs in the song.
So this is what I use

Quincy burmount (thunderbird look alike > kokko Booster > LS2 line selector > Micro POG > DS1> uS600
And then a behringer TU300 tuner send and return from the line selector < VOX 10 bass amp

So i found this to really work, I also manged to get the US600 to work well – which I'm using as a PS6 (dive bomb effect like Mike uses)
At the moment I have it at the end of the rig, I'm due to move it just before the booster as it sounded close to the sound.
    Give it a try 🙂

  • How do you record such sound? I'm used to recording bass using XLR output from my amp, but that does not work with similar setup (BigMuff Bass Deluxe, Bass Whammy, LS-2 and TU-1). Should I record 2 tracks separately – clean bass straight from amp output and distorted sound using microphone? And which microphone should I use? SM57/58 would be enough?

  • Hey Alex, great video! Please excuse my ignorance, as I don't know much about pedals, but I see you've used the tuner to act as a killswitch for the bass signal, but is there a way to use the tuner to kill all the signal (i.e in between songs/tuning the bass) and also another killswitch for the bass signal..?

Thanks for the help, and again, please excuse me if this is a stupid question, I'm not very clever when it comes to pedals!

  • you know you could do this without the tuner, right? Just set up the LS2 to A, B or AB…

  • This is awesome! Just stumbled across your channel and this is easily the closes Royal Blood sound I have heard. Never realised the options that the LS-2 can give. Now know where the money is going for my next investment! 😀

  • Hi, alexander ! Your videos are great! Thanks to you I was able to buy those pedals ^
If I wanted now to get a clean guitar's sound thanks to the octaver, with which pedal could I replace the DS-1 pedal? Cause if I deactivate the DS-1 pedal and the bass, the octaver sounds high, but not nice.
