Taylor 214 CE review
Hey, thanks for watching my review. Here’s a link to the guitar for price and all the specs etc. (UK)
In the review I didn’t mention the strings- D’addario 13 gauge, on when I purchased, but I’ll be changing them to D’addario medium gauge 12’s, my preferred choice. Do you think I should do more guitar reviews???

Solid back and sides vibrate better but it only accounts for 20 percent of the vibrating surface of the guitar; it's not the only factor in tone and sustain. A solid top make the most difference
Really nice review. Great guitar. Just wish you’d mentioned the action height and string gauge. Reviewers never do and it’s one of the most important aspects. Yes I know you can change the strings and get a set up. But it’s more time, hassle and expense.
Is that one made in the usa or Mexico? Also how is the guitar holding up since your purchase?
My 214ce is now 12 years old and it sounds even better than the day I bought it. Mine is also a keeper. So easy to play. So balanced. Pure, rich tone.
I just got a left-handed 214ce and love it. Still a beginner/intermediate and look forward to being able to play it as well as you one day!! Great review and even better playing!!
I just got a Taylor 214ce dlx a couple of weeks ago and I’m very happy with it. It plays beautifully and sounds great. I was thinking about the Grand Concert bc I was worried that the Grand Auditorium might be a bit too large, but that wasn’t the case. I also have two smaller body acoustic electrics, a Martin 000 Jr Streetmaster and a Yamaha FCS 800. I really like the Martin a lot too. The Yamaha is pretty decent for a cheaper priced guitar. So I guess I’m both a Martin and a Taylor gal now ????
Lovely. I don't think that gorgeous fish will detract from the value at all. Nice playing too. ????
I want that guitar. Taylor has a blue guitar with the fish and I want that one too!
Awesome Review, been looking at getting one and researching as much as I can on the 214-ce and 214-ce K. The artwork is a killer idea! Have question on it, did you seal it / throw a thin clear coat on it to protect it or leave it as is? ????
I bought a gs mini e mahogany yesterday but played one of these for size & sound comparison and was very impressed. Was very comfortable and easy to play so may get one later on if I improve enough. Great price too ????
I want a nice Taylor but I need to play much better than I do to justify it.
Thanks for your views/comments. Appreciate it. I’m planning to do some reviews very soon ????
Beautiful playing.
Your headstock looks special
By the way, your daughters art work is stunning!! I have a daughter gifted in art as well and what a great idea to have her put a touch on your guitar that will bring in your memories of her each time you play! Very cool!
Very nice review. Thanks for taking time to make this video. I just spent a few hours in several shop trying different guitars and this one came out on top as far as sound and value. This guitar has a rich powerful yet beautiful sound.
love my 214CE K DLX, had it for 7 months now!
I just bought a second hand Taylor 214ec….❤
I've got the same guitar and after a year the action became higher due to the top swelling. I live in Lancashire and these guitars are quite sensitive to humidity. My local luthier sorted it but I now have a dehumidifier in the spare room where I keep my guitars. They're great guitars and the necks are very comfortable but you need to keep an eye on the humidity as I'm guessing it may be wetter where you live.
I’ve had a 214CE DLX for about 7 years now. Loved it when I got it, still love it today. Been playing guitar since I was 12. I’m 69 now. When it comes to acoustic guitars my 2 favorites are Taylor and Guild
Played guitar for about 13 years and never owned an acoustic. Decided it’s time to change that and have been looking at this model, seems like a good quality package for the price.
It sounded nice, and it's not made by communists. Win win.
Have you compared this with an Eastman AC222 for example? It seems like that would be a better sound and value … Or just the simple 114 that is very similar built just lighter weight ( more resonant and louder ) probably due to the thinner finish
NOTE: the expression 2 pick was set flat- everything EQ's in the middle, though I'd normally add a bit more treble which takes away the muddiness. On the whole, the pick up is great!
I have a 214ce Koa for almost 3 years now. I think its a pretty decent guitar at its price point. It has prominent bell like treble which attracted me to it in the first place. The bass however can be a bit coarse, almost like a growl. I suspect its because of the Koa back and sides. I wonder if you feel the same or otherwise with your rosewood model.
I have had ( ie tried to find one that didn't have the fault ) one, then two more replacements of this model and ALL had a fault where the B string did not ring truely, when played open string ..it went "dung" for want of a better word. We ( the retailer and I ) could only resolve this by moving me to a 314 CE which was perfect. I wonder if others have had the same problem with the 214 CE ?
