According to Jim Dunlop it is true bypass .
It was later discovered that his was a script box but it had block circuitry.
To me the block sounds more aggressive
The woble on the block setting is alot more pronounced, as the signature version is more suttle.
Do you run this pedsl before or after overdrive/gain? I run it before the dirty channel on the amp whuch doesnt have enough distortion fir my liking, but when I run it after a distortion pedal into the clean channel on my amp, it sounds awful. Nothing like this video which is perfect. Very disappointing.
Anyone use this behind a Boss Metal Zone?
Love this EVH Phase 90 pedal sound. Mine must be a lemon. With Mine, the volume goes up and down with the swoosh and is awful. Any ideas?
It's not true bypass, but has a higher input impedance then the standard Phase 90 and has 8db more clean headroom
The EVH really is just the Block Phase 90 with the button taking the R28 24K resistor in & out of the circuit. You're not really getting the 74' Script circuit. MXR put in a feedback loop with the block logo which created a harsh upper midrange especially with distortion. By taking the R28 resistor out it tames it & sounds more mellow. I just did a complete guide on how to do this. You can really hear the difference. Turn off the delay reverb & distortion & you'll hear it's less harsh. It doesn't change the speed just changes the tone.

I have seen some of these phase pedals with the stripes all around the pedal (stripes covering the sides of the pedal as well as the top) as well have seen the pedal with a different knob and the stripped paint job is only on the top.? Is one a rip off or ?
Where do you plug this beast in the pedal board: right before the amp or in the fx loop?

Just got this pedal today, Sage. In honor of our hero Edward. I didn’t know how to use it when I first got it in 2007. I had it after my distortion because I thought time based effects had to go after distortion. It didn’t sound anything like Edward so I got rid of it. Now all these years later I know that it has to be used before overdrive. And it does sound amazing.

With the EVH Phase 90 Pedal why get the more expensive 5150 overdrive?
Would this work well with the 5150 overdrive pedal?
I love this pedal.It does Waylon really good too.I also cannot tell much difference between the block and script.
