Beyond my general enjoyment of the song and the band, I do have an uncle from Dallas who lost his leg. My understanding is that it did involve a train.. and possibly acid, so a dance doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility.

Every time this band comes up, it makes me remember a story by a friend of mine. When he lived in Austin either Gibby and Al Jourgenson's girlfriend (or Al and Gibby's girlfriend) smoking crack in his living room.
One of my favorite bands. Do yourself a favor and skip this rabbit hole.
