I thought that was John Mayer in the thumbnail.
Middle pickup on most guitars or middle positions are always my favorite ????????????????❤❤❤❤❤
Not sure if I should buy a silver sky or a Revstar tbh. I mean i like both guitars at this point.
I didn't like the neck shape at first, because it has too broad shoulders. But since I liked the guitar so much for the rest I had the shoulders shaved off a bit and now it is just perfect!
At this point, the price is quite surprising.
My only gripe is no hardshell case for the price i paid
I just picked up the maple-board SE, and it's an instant love affair. This truly scratches the strat itch for me, and corrects some of the Strat's drawbacks. All the pickups are useful and we have a tone control on the bridge pickup. Not that it's super harsh, so I don't typically use the tone knob, but it's there!
Good review.
Sire guitars beat everything all to hell. Sire is the real deal strat and tele and 335 and jazzmaster and les paul. They are all leaps and bounds ahead of anything I've played in a long time. Been a guitar tech for over 47 yrs and I fell in love with Sire guitars. I think you will too!
As with anything in life,it's a personal preference,
I justed purchased this guitar. I love it.
That soft case does not work in more dry climates. Therefore, if you buy a SS in a state like Colorado, you'll need to buy a real case and toss that gig bag into a closet to collect dust.
I always use on the strat the middle pickup as the middle voice, and switch to neck and bridge depending on what you want. The middle voice is however the main departure point for me.
I've been playing Strats for exactly 50 years. Was going to get a 70th Anniversary AV Strat but found I was unimpressed. What happened to light weight ash? Have we used it all up? Found a Silver Sky online and bought it instead. 6.8 lbs. Moc Sand finish w/maple neck. I've been thinking about spending some time with one of these since they came out and finally pulled the trigger. Should be here by the weekend. I'm excited.
Why they dont make guitars with full sz jumbos and stainless steel fretts
This sounds more like an ad to be honest
My guitar teacher shit all over my SS core. Said schechter or Ibanez make better S types and that I overpayed (i got a $1k discount on mine). Eh at the end of the day it's preference
Baloney…that guitar is not all that great..it's just a sales pitch…a Stratocaster wanna be ????♂️
Does anyone know if the neck and middle pickups are the same on the Silver Sky and the Fiore? I've owned Fender Strats, Teles and bases since 1957 and to my ear, Fender Strat has lost the tone competition to PRS. I now own a '23 Fiore and the tone is everything that Fender should be (and once was, IMHO).
Have they made the frets larger in 2023?
I can't get over the ugly headstock and cheapo plastic tuners. It looks aweful IMO
Thank you so much! Rounded!
I went after every major guitar style other than strats for years. had MANY strats but sold them all. Bought the Silver Sky USA and never looking back. Just bought my second one too. Thinking of selling all my other guitars right now because these are all I want to pick up anymore.
I have a 2018 and I love it
I'm convinced the concern over fretboard radius lives only in their heads. I like 7.25 or 9.50, both are great and not THAT different to play.
Ordered an SE model from Amazon…18 in stock…yet Amazon says 1 month out! So much for 2 day shipping.
Tuning stability is a big reason I’m looking at PRS in general. I play Epiphones and Gibsons, and haven’t heard an in-tune fretted G string in years… ???? I adore their feel but it’s a real bummer when you want to switch from lead to chords.
I played for 50 yrs or more, really impressed with this guitar, the USA a one is awesome, I got the se stone blue really liking it. Subscribed.
I have the Ultra Luxe Strat, so I don't have to work about neck radius or neck heel shape. Both excellent.
Does the gigbag is safe for checkin baggage in the plane?
I like thinner, lower frets as they seem to promote more accurate intonation across the entire neck. Higher frets tend to make us push the string down and out of tune, and fatter frets can make you touch the string in a less-than-optimal place.
My '62 Strat needed new frets and I chose the original 6230 fret wire, which is on the thinner side and not too high.. That's what a proper Strat (or Tele) feels like to me. On a Gibson SG or Les Paull, anything goes, but I think the frets tend to lean towards the larger ones on these as they do on a '59 LP. However, I had a '61 ES-335 that had rather thin, low frets, and it was no bother a'tall.
I think that as fret size goes, "It's no hanging matter". We quickly get use to them, whatever their size.
I have always fancied the sound of the Strat's middle pickup. I once read that Leo thought of the middle pickup as the default position and sound of the guitar and designed it with that in mind, or rather, in ear. 😀
A guitar so expensive, wich doesn't come with a hardcase…. Yeah, I know, many PRS lover will hate me, but… The idea isn't to build a better guitar than Fender, ok, they did it, but the idea is that Fender is and will always be an icon. It's the ''must have'' , besides its issues.
I’ve tried it and thought the tone was nice but did not like the radius. I got the Schecter Nick Johnston USA instead, it smokes this guitar. I’m a huge John Mayer fan btw.
Japanese made FGN
They're the budget Kings below 1000 bucks, tired of fenders dominance, glad FGN is getting traction and they're suhr specs
Just personally I can't do vintage spec guitars, the SS just doesn't work for me
It's my least favorite guitar. Sadly, I just don't like it even though it plays great and sounds great. I just don't like it. So I've got a new 2019 Silver Sky that has all of 15 minutes playing on it.
does the neck and the fretboard feel like a vintage instrument? like a vintage strat? thats what im looking for, id be happy if anyone could help.
The frets on the newer ones are taller and are improved in my opinion. The original ones did have small frets and I prefer the newer ones.
biggest guitar disappointment of my career.Unless you give Paul 5 grand or more you get junk.period.
And you discover all that 2 years after? That’s really stupid.
I have 2 of them (USA model) and it's awesome guitar. Its an HD Stratocaster. Easy to play, easy to tune, easy to sound great and easy to acces to the high frets
Gig bag also has a hidden hook that slides out to hang it up.
Two min in and I'm out. Small frets and an extreme radius…not for me. I don't even want the strings touching the board
I have a PRS 594 CORE AND I LOVE IT, I'M THINKING ABOUT A SILVER SKY AND I HAVENT MADE UP MY MIND.
I love LOVE LOVE my Silver Sky!
Great video dude. Subbed.
Lol all the things you pointed out I actually really like.
Hardtail?
Hey Tom, I’m wondering if the finish on the back of the neck came off from playing or did you sand it down? I like the matte finish in the SE so I’m debating on doing that to my US model. Thoughts?
