Great playing and demo!!!! I hear an Alembic tone from this fairly versatile tone monster! Very impressive looking, too!!! I've always wanted a bass with a graphite neck but they were way too expensive! Losing volume when both pickups are used is a bit of an issue for me though!!!
Extremely thin sounding. Something isn't right.
Wow! Sounds like crap.
synthectic, muffled
Everyone and their mother is reviewing these things, I honestly don’t get it myself and don’t really like the sound of the stock pups, but a Seymour Duncan, EMG or Fishman swap really wakes these basses up like you have no idea.
It sounds like the pickups are out of phase with each other on this one. These basses sound great in every other demo I've heard.
I built a parts bass from a Warwick Streamer body and an ESP neck and installed Fluence pups and electronics and it sounds worlds better than those in the demoed bass.I think they sound like they're wired out of phase or just wrong.Mine give me a myriad of deep usable sounds.None of that weak nasal tone.
Uh… NO! Nothing stands out as useful. I have a Squier Contemporary active that blows this out of the water for tone.
I have one of their ukes, and it is the best uke I personally have ever played; VERY curious about my next bass being a Klos…not so much now – great construction but sounds not so great – It's their first year, so I will look forward to the improvements. I do understand the "characterless" issue with carbon fiber instruments; they essentially sound as good as their electronics. I play a Modulus Genesis, which is often thought of as an ideal combination of materials and electronics.
Definitely out of phase
I have to concur with other comments. I find this bass sounds quite simply unlistenable. It’s nasally…..harsh…lifeless….characterless and lacks that warmth that we look for in a nice bass. Not for me. I couldn’t even get to the end of the review as I lost interest in it so I have no idea how much it costs?
construction is very interesting, sound is a huge "HELL NO".
Hmm. Didn’t really do much for me, tonally. I recently bought a Sire M5, which is also very lightweight, but it seems far more versatile than the Klos. I can dial in tones similar to my Fender Jazz, but the humbuckers can also provide a nice Musicman kind of growl. On top of all that, it can be used in passive mode. Of course, mine didn’t come with a gig bag, and I don’t think I’ll be trying to pop the neck on and off, but I doubt I would anyway. Anyway, thanks for making these videos. They’ve got a lot of useful information in them, and they’re entertaining, too.
If you can, would you be able to do one of these on the Luna brand electric bass?
Really interesting & insightful review as always! ????
Cool ideas incorporated into the bass. Nice review.
Hm, the split coil in both positions and the humbucker in neck position was OK, I guess. But many of the settings was nasal and dead sounding. And it sound a bit artificial and cold. Not to fond of those Fishman pickups. Totally agree that they should look again at those pickups and get some passive pickups and have an passive/active switch. And I'm not sure that bass resonates well, so you might never get a warm tone out of that bass. That carbon neck come with a tonal price to pay.
