Can you build Stevie Ray Vaughan’s iconic tone, or is it all in the hands and hype? ???? In this video, I’ll build the ultimate SRV-inspired Tubescreamer on tagboard using premium, boutique components. But does boutique gear deliver legendary tone—or just a bigger price tag? Stay tuned as I compare this high-end build to a budget Tubescreamer clone. By the end, you’ll know if chasing tone is worth the cost.

Yours was best, almost had a spitty fuzz tone when you turned everything up. That wiring job was beautiful too!
I had an original ts808 bought 1982 for $75. Unfortunately I traded it at guitar center for $300 back in early 2000s. I sounded great
your bottom two (US) Amazon links arent working correctly, they just take me to Amazon home page
Tant caps are the work of the devil. ????
Brutally honest preference list 1) Joyo 2) Yours 3) Ibanez
The Joyo has something in the sound that I like. Your pedal sounds phenomenally clean and if that's the sound someone's looking for it's perfect. The Ibanez sound is messy in the wrong way. I'm a doom metal player though so I don't do a whole lot of SRV style electric delta/Texas blues playing. Listen to it though and your pedal would certainly work in that setting though the Joyo would certainly fit the ethos better.
I would call it the bread tie instead of helicopter
Suena igual al joyo jjdjwjdjjsbed mucho han pagaoooo
конечно ваш лучше раз в 1000 ! удивительно!но point to point а эти уже говорит о многом! браво!
There may be a slight difference in the sounds of the pedals, but that'll vanish once the drums kick in.
Very nice build though, but I'd go Joyo anytime. Or my own build ????
Links no good.
Your DIY sounds best to me. Congrats on such a nice sounding unit! Enjoy!
To be honest, i think none of the tube screamers is worth more than 150 pounds maybe that is too much, but I understand that boutique has gotten a place in guitar world…As for your pedal, it surely has that retro look, I personally don't like it when pedal makers do not label the knobs, I mean guys may drool when they turn the drive knob keep that in mind, it is re-living that which they dream about and you provide it to them. Addionally, as someone who likes everything guitar, I like pedal makers who innovate, take pedal to the next level. I mean…..how many time have we seen a re-creation of this and that right, but he who make someting that help with the flow or nummber of pedal in the chain is the one who will get the praise. What do I mean with this, if you can make it so your pedal will work perfectly on it's own without addional pedal for certain things, you help the buyer, same as if you can make it so you can replace like 2 or 3 pedal in one than you will get praise from guitarist. especially those who have lots of pedals on their board. It is always funny that guitarist dream about this one pedal, like it is performing miracles, yet the signal chain to get a certain tone is very important. That's why I like EQ and Compressors on multuple point if you're doing stereo for example, It's a crude example but you know what I mean. Pedal don't always need more effect in one, but certainly more processing to get that right tone
God those Ma150s are a bugger to find!
I love building on tag!
If you were building an LPB-1 i would get it, but this is more complicated than building it on stripboard or buy a PCB. Big ass capacitors won't sound better than 100V RM5 film caps.
Also why convert the opamp from SMD to THT when you can get 'em in DIP8 package? Magic vintage opamps always come in DIP8 😛
I like the way your's sounds better than the other two. Is it more touch sensitive? Sounds like it.
These alll sounded exactly like a fuzz face. Definitely not tube screamery. I would try it with a fender amp.
check out guitar effects layout forums, you could basically built same thing on one board in smaller format and less wire mess
Love the look of this pedal. ????????
Bravo ???? Some work!
What a rad build I’m glad this came up randomly ❤ absolutely subbed
I've had good luck cleaning leads with a bit of sandpaper.
Oh hecks yeah ????
Oh man yours sounds SOOOOO good.
Are you using type b pots ?
Why did they use a 510k resistor R14? because 510k is a very unusual resistance value there must be a special reason for using 510k
I never found a tube screamer that sounded good though my amp, i think i just don't like symmetrical clipping because a boss sd1 knocked it out of the park.
I personally thought your pedal sounded better, a much richer and warmer sound. However for £15 the other pedal is a steal. ????. Fascinating stuff as always.
I 'm a longtime SD-1 player – still have my original one from when they first came out, never owned a TS, although I played many, but I never liked them . I always wonder why everybody and their little dog makes TS clones, as I'm under the impression they both are fairly easy to "play" with ?
Looks killer Joe. Fancy bit of kit. It sounded like its eq with less bass compared to the other pedals. Great for a band mix,
Can't wait for Reeves on your podcast, his work is art.
That Hello Sailor veroboard is a good candidate for a Prescription Electronic Experience Fuzz or COB build.
The Joyo is new out of the box or the one you modded not long ago?
What do you fink is the diff between this and a normal tube screamer? are they worth the effort??? great video
I luv that you are back to tagboard
