Just found your channel, PTL!
Excellent tutorial. I'm still a pretty new player, but I wish I had started here. Would have saved me a lot of trial and error.
My older brother has the exact same Fender bass guitar. Sounds great, but I prefer a Paul McCartney Höfner (even when made in China, and a good look alike, and sound alike!) I really like the more narrow neck so my fingers are not overworked with the reach around!
I bought a bass guitar a few years ago and I was so excited but bored quickly kicked in and then I left it alone. I'm down to the point where I want to learn again I ran across your video Brother Rich and oh my God you are such a great teacher thank you thank you
As soon as I started watching this video I had a feeling it was going to be something for me. I'm not a total beginner. I've been trying to learn my way around a bass guitar for over a year with a few successes and a few false starts. At about 3:30 in this video, you show me exactly the thing I've been needing to learn to make progress: how to get two right-hand fingers involved in plucking. I seriously wondered what the right approach would be, and almost settled on the brute force method of playing everything with alternating strokes between index and middle fingers. That would have been another false start that made me play everything really slowly while my left hand and my music sense sat there saying "Come ON, Left hand!"
I'm glad I recognized something in your manner. I think it's actually happiness in the eyes of a musician who can play. Go ahead and let that light shine, Sir!
Just found your channel you have definitely picked up a new student.
Now I know . . . . Thanks for sharing Buddy ❤

I just got my fist bass today (beginner series of course) and I was directed to your YouTube by a good friend and phenomenal bass player so I'm here and thanks for lesson #1 (slowly transitioning from drums to bass)
Do you recommend any tab album books for beginners?
Thanks Rich, I have tried to see what others have to teach but they all call it for beginners but not my kind of beginner. Thank you for taking the time to actually being there for beginners.
at 6:50 to 7: how possible. my thumb is aching and moving but yours is not. pls kindly do a tutorial on how to imitates you
Sir you have gained a subscriber, your teaching is soo eloquent and understandable , God bless you Sir
Hi Rich, a beginner here from Scotland and I would like to pass my thanks to you and your no nonsense laid back approach that makes learning with you a very enjoyable experience. Thank you for what you offer for the bass guitar beginners in the world ????

46 years old and just now starting to play. I take random lessons where my kids take lessons when I can make it after work and my kids school is super flexible with me when they can be. They kind of just teach me tabs probably to keep me stoked and it works but I want more then just tab.
Like like like ????????
Just build my first bass and this a great way of learning how to play it. Thanks!
Had a question sir, what is a good beginner key to learn James cleveland music in on bass. i play keyboard and have some understanding of the progressions.
Thank you, Mr. Brown.. Im just beginning to learn to play the bass.. I love the calmness in your voice and the way you teach.. You are a very good teacher.. The bas guitar has always had a big place in my heart.. BW from Denmark, Europe..????????????????????

Amazing tips thank you fr fr great video!
thanks. i feel like everyone jumps right into it forgetting what its like to never hold a guitar before. this has been so much more down to earth as a complete beginner. do u have any tips for someone with tiny hands? its a huge stretch for me to move my fingers to the next note
Rich is great, no clowning around and clear explanations. Looking forward to learning with him!
