????Description: Today we are looking at the new NEW 1959 Epiphone Les Paul “Inspired by Gibson Custom Shop.” It is a little confusing because there are now two different 1959 Epiphone Les Paul Standards at varying price points with different headstocks and different Gibson pickups… as well as an even cheaper 50s/60s Standard with epiphone pickups. These new epis are expensive… but they also have EXPENSIVE pickups in them. Great for a gigging guitarist to take out and not worry about dinging up!

If epiphone had nitro finishes, there’d really be no reason to buy a true gibson anymore IMO. The epi specs are just so good these days!
The old Epiphone headstock is…um…unattractive. Keeping it on some models is a good idea, for those who don´t mind it. Having a choice is good for business.
So the carve on the top isn't as pronounced as a gibson?
Trogly what amp do you have
I played one. They are that good.
I got one, I like it
May be good, but you're getting into the price territory of a used Standard, so it doesn't make much sense to me. I just picked up a 22' 61 SG Maestro for $1200, so take your pick. Specs are one thing, but I'm curious about the nuances of the neck and frets, which to me are 80% of the guitar. Nothing like a good plek'd made in USA Gibson neck. All that said, yes, they look awesome, and definitely what some customers wanted out of an Asian made Gibson brand.
What's confusing is Gibsons 57 variations of les Paul's, EPI is way easier to track..think you got that backwards man…for me just cause it's an EPI don't mean it's not good…
Not to go off too far on a tangent but just picked up an Eastman SB59 for $300 more than the Epi. Fit and finish are absolutely exquisite. Set up is perfect. Completely hand made with ebony fretboard, deep flame maple top, one-piece mahogany body. Goth hardware, switchcraft, CTS pots. Came with Seymour Duncan 59’s that sound awesome. Could I have ponied up $500-$800 more for a plane top Gibson LP standard? Probably. But I know the quality wouldn’t be there. Seriously, check reviews. These Eastman’ compare very favorably to Gibson Custom shop models costing 3 times the price. IMHO, if you’re going to go with a Chinese-made LP, don’t sleep on Eastman!
So just bought one exactly the same and what a pile of crap. Great pick ups but the rest is simply cheap and nasty and the paint finish makes it feel like a lump of plastic. Too many other better options for this Gibson rip off price. Need to do a lot better. Now on ebay if interested folks. Keep the pick ups and bin the rest.
this is the first high end epiphone i think i'd drop the money on! i've been wanting a 59 style les paul just cause, and this one seems awesome.
Epiphone to me always felt like I was playing a knockoff guitar made by a banjo company.
Viendo lo precios que se manejan en la venta de segunda mano es más rentable comprar una Gibson!
I have the lemon burst version (GC special run), spent an hour with some light automotive swirl/scratch remover and it polished up nicely. Not too much shine but an improvement over the factory matte.

As always, once you're above the $1,000 level, youre better off with a used Gibson LP Special, pocketing the difference. Epiphones over $1,000 only make sense if they're 1-1 copies pf the corresponding Gibson model, just made in China instead of tbe USA.
I'm waiting for FedEx to bring mine today. I hope I like it and I hope it has a good setup.
The biggest issue with the inspired by Epiphone les paul isn't its price tag. It's it's competition's. I shot this out with a PRS Zach Myers and found them both to feel really nice (save for the bridge I hate TOM) but the PRS sounded way better for well under $1k
Cannot stand the epi headstock.
Im thinking of buying a Epiphone Les Paul classic T 2014 .are they any good they have the auto tuner ?is it worth yhe $500 ???????? or about $350 American?
I completely refuse to buy old epiphones because that old headstock was vomit inducing.
Epiphone should loose the poly finish and go to nitro on all models.
The finish is O.K. you can polish it glossier.igt alazarusand it´s garbage forthis price. Lazarus sounds vintage but without any life. Overall most newer Epiphones are optical spraypainted to death.
I tried an inspired by Gibson explorer….all pretty good except the frets ripped my fingers to bits……seen far superior fretwork on much cheaper guitars!!!!I will not be rushing to try another Epi…..
I dont see the point to pay 1k to get laurel fretboard
If you buy a Harley Benton Custom, you have the same quality ( they are made in the same factory!! ), for a quarter of the price.
Epiphone, Harley Benton, Squire, Cort, Ibanez comes from the same factory
I love the headstock
The ‘59 with the Kalamazoo headstock has the red dye back and neck. Like you, I prefer mine with the Epi headstock and Burstbuckers. It’s a great Les Paul for $1k.
Honestly the epiphone sounds better
Anaconda burst Slash epiphone getring delivered tommorrow. I can't wait to check it out. The back of it has some amazing wood to this particular one.
I've got one of these, under 8 lbs and great resonance. The neck profile and pick ups are my favorite features. The Gibson headstock makes sense to me, because Gibson is the parent company.
I can HEAR is NO difference between the two. The only difference I can see is the price!
13:50 15:59 (just doing a little sound test) Ok, the Gibson definitely sounds a bit louder and "bites" a little harder.
So a cheap Chinese guitar is being praised for being expensive Chinese because it is a Gibson product? Ridiculous
