D’addario Pro-Arte EJ46FF High Tension Carbon Strings Review – Taylor Academy 12e-N

D’addario Pro-Arte EJ46FF High Tension Carbon Strings Review on my Taylor Academy 12e-N

Order These Strings From Amazon: https://amzn.to/2IcwRy8

I’m used to playing a much lighter tension string gauge but after trying these D’Addario Pro-Arte EJ46FF High Tension Carbon Strings out on my Taylor Academy 12e-N I actually really like the feel and sound of them and will probably stick with them for now.

They are well balanced across the basses and trebles and the carbon trebles have an almost bell like ring to them.

They’re also the strings that Taylor factory fit on all of their nylon string guitars so I guess that’s say a lot for them anyway although I do have some more strings lined up to try in the future 😉

As always if you found this review useful don’t forget to give me a thumbs up and subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don’t miss out on any classical string reviews I do in the future 🙂

  • Wow after hearing you play i cancelled my order on another set of strings and ordered these! I've gotten lazy and been using ball ends but sounds like these strings are worth the extra effort. Thanks !

  • The D'Addario Pro-Arte hard tension EJ46C (with the composite G string) have been my go-to strings for a couple of years now. Great strings, though I may give this set a try.

  • Drinking water with baking soda in it may help your joints. If your pH is less than 7 that could be the cause of sore joints. I use 1/2 tsp twice a day in a glass of water.

  • Beautiful, lovely sound from the carbon strings. I getting my D’addario XT carbon treble and Dynacore basses tomorrow delivered, can’t wait to try them on my classical guitar.

  • Howdy from western Colorado! Good review. I'll try these strings next go-around on my Alverez Classical. I haven't been all that happy with the strings installed by my very EXCELLENT local guitar shop. (Starrs Guitars). They kind of sound like ukulele strings to me.

  • Thanks for the video, I bought the very same guitar and just changed the strings for the first time (6 months) was a bit nervous to try manually tying the knots on and ended up going with the Folk Ball ends, From A'addario, next time I'll have to bite the bullet and give it a go as I did really like the high tension.

  • I have been racking my brain about whether there is a difference between high tension and hard tension. I've been using sevilla

  • Yes, I have been using D'addario strings for many years, usually 10s for electric, and 13s for steel string acoustic. However, the nylon carbon D'addario strings sound divine as demonstrated in your excellent and informative video, although they are more difficult to play for some players due to the tension.

Getting back to your beautiful D'addario demonstration, as you were playing them, they even "sounded" tight (high tension) although the sustain is absolutely gorgeous.
