The Highest Value All-Solid Guitars from Taylor & Furch | 314ce Studio vs. Violet Deluxe
We’ve got two of our favorite manufacturers’ best value propositions in the studio– the new 314ce Studio is an all solid Grand Auditorium with chamfered edges, 1 11/16″ nut width, and all gloss finish; the Violet Deluxe is a dual-beveled all-solid, satin masterpiece. Both have been wildly popular since their introduction and now we have to compare! Which do you prefer?

Great review, I love your reviews. And would be really curious what you say about the furch pioneer one day 🙂
Next holiday season, I will have taken lessons for a year. At that point, I plan on upgrading from my 114 e to one of these. Let’s just say that this didn’t make things any easier. Both sound great in their own way.
Admittedly I’m a bit biased because I own a Furch Vintage II OM but I also own a Taylor. Hands down the Furch sounds best to me. Taylor guitars in general have a thin brittle sound to me.
Think I like everything about the Taylor better , but both would fit the bill nicely
Would love a Furch and Yamaha Red Label comparison.
I listened "blind", and preferred the first guitar – the Taylor – a little to my surprise. But the Furch has an open-spore finish, which I really dislike. Then again, the Taylor has a narrow neck, so no thanks to either.
Thanks for video, guys.
For me… Taylor (and Martin) are guitars where you pay too much for brand and decent guitar build starts on really high price. Much higher where are other brands have much more value in their build. I wont lie… I really like this Taylor look, but playability, sound and price looks much much better for me by Furch. I am still on my Fender CC 60 SCE where I changed nut, saddle and pins with bone… did home action setting and it plays great for me, but this year I would like to buy some Furch. I am from Czech Republic and I love connection me loving this brand and YOU loving this brand.
I cant wait when you will test the Furch Pioneer and tell your thoughts, because that is something I really like and I would like to know if it can be taken SURE for homeplaying like big guitar GA or it is really just for travelling… even when I already "know" the anwer (yep, totaly great like bigger guitars).
Do you have any date when you will have Furch Pioneer?
And as always… thanks for doing this. ????
Playing the same thing on both guitars helps lot. Great review!!!
Just went through this. Was looking around the om size budget 2K. Ended up with a Taylor ad12e sb. Turns out I really like a satin finish and walnut on a small acoustic. Clear, woody, with sustain, even harmonics, and plays like a Taylor. It's what a L-00 always wished it could be imo. Couldn't be happier with this little guy.
Thank you Cooper for playing the same thing for both guitars! Thank you for listening! Awesome review guys!! I love and own both Furch and Taylor's. When I retired, I bought a Furch that is similar to the one you had here.(pre color description for the types) i have never regretted that purchase. They sound different and both with their own characters!
Taylor is significantly better
No case for a 314ce blows a Guitar at 2K SHOULD have a case included…. A "gig" bag just does NOT cut it. I have to have a csae. As far as which one I'd want?? taylor there's NO competition
Both beautiful. In this comparison I much prefer the Taylor.
The Furch has a very well balanced tone, better bass and more clarity than the Taylor. You need to do a more fair comparison in price. The Furch Blue performance series at $1900 or a green series will blow this Taylor away! Taylor at the price of the violet, would be laminated ..lol.. and there's no telling what Taylor would charge for a duo bevel ..ha ha ha
Furch hands down, is the better guitar for your money.
Wonderful piece of guitar music and playing. Can anyone share what this music is as it would be with a good few days of practice to learn. Thanks
Taylor easily distances itself from the Furch in the looks department. But Taylor beats most every other factory guitar maker too. Both of these sound great but I think Taylor actually sounds more grown up or polished than the Furch. So if price is not a concern I would pick the Taylor.
Is the Furch CM blue deluxe a step higher?
They both sound good, the Taylor just sounds better. More sophisticated, more mature, had more depth to the tone.
Not much money in YouTube revenue so I'm glad you get paid ????
The Furch is the better guitar here in my opinion (although I'd remove that ugly ass pick guard first thing). I like the bevels and pickup better than the ES2. That Taylor is a better looking guitar overall, and it does sound good, but wow that Furch's low end is just undeniable. And this coming from a Taylor fanboy! Nice vid as always guys!
Gentlemen, keep up the good work. It is nice to see reviews by various manufacturers.
I have the Taylor 314ce burst for 2 weeks now and I love it so much!
Really like Taylor and wondering if Yamaha red label could be in same conversation with these guitars. Have been thinking about buying red label for awhile.
A little surprised the American Dream series didn't get used, but I guess 314ce is the new hotness.
Something else to add to the equation is playability. Among the Taylor-Gibson -and Martin guitars, Taylor 314ce 50th being one of them, that I own, the easiest to play is my Taylor AD 17. Both sound good however, and this covers all guitars, what does it matter if a guitar sounds good if it is a" biatch" to play?
Furch, louder and claner. Can't go wrong for about 500 euros.
Furch slightly richer fuller tone and more bass
For my ear, on my computer, the Furch sounds a little brighter than the Taylor.
The Taylor was brighter, Sepele being a bit more dense, and the Furch sounded fuller, mellower, and a bit more compressed. Just like mahogany and spruce, right? I love the 1 3/4” nut on my 314, and the aesthetics, and its tones. But, if I was shopping for one in this category and class, the Furch might just go home with me.
