Will Cady of Source Audio tours through the sounds of the Soundblox Pro Bass Envelope Filter, the highly anticipated upgrade to the original BEF.
The BEF Pro boasts a wide variety of new sounds perhaps most notably, dubstep wobble bass and electronica sequencer sounds.
The BEF Pro is used in conjunction with the Hot Hand by Nathan Navarro of Pinn Panelle to get those gnarly organic bass wobbles in their cover of Skrillex’s Scary Monsters and Sprites.
Users of Soundblox bass pedals include Mike Gordon of Phish, Victor Wooten of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Tom Hamilton of Aerosmith, Duff McKagan of Guns ‘n Roses and Velvet Revolver, Bill Preston Esquire of The Wyld Stallyns and many, many more.

So the dubstep thing, the hot hand, is a separate item?
Never had one of these. Had the original BEF and now have the Spectrum Intelligent Filter. I love envelope filters and have owned many. I was never a fan of digital pedals and the thought of a digital envelope filter was comical and nauseating at the same time. However,I saw an old demo of the original BEF here on Youtube and it made me pull the trigger when I saw one for sale on Ebay. When you see lists like "Top 10 enevlope filters for bass" — I had all of them at one time or another and the one I wouldnt sell was the S.A. BEF. The Manta had been on the market for a year or two when I bought the BEF. I was looking to get the Manta but Source Audio dropped the Spectrum and I sold my BEF and almost felt sad to see it go but it went to a good home. It was going to be neglected at my house because Source Audio made the ultimate envelope filter. I feel like I wont ever have another envelope filter but I suspect Source Audio could prove me wrong, although I cant fathom any feature or function that I would want in an envelope filter that the Spectrum doesnt have. Source Audio has proven that not only is it possible to make a great sounding digital pedal, but you can pack them with amazing features I never would have expected. Great stuff from this company.
Sorry, but your feet are disgusting! Especially your little toe. Come on SourceAudio, surely you know how polarising this is. We want to watch and learn we just don’t want to watch that!
I need the bass, dont care about the pedal
Yes, but how will it hold up in a real band situation.
Most effect pedals i tried simply snipped off the balls of my bass.
Sounded like Tipper at the end there
????Ok!!..I’ll be the one to ????????????
All this thing can do is fantastic but!!….in the real world of the role of the Bass & it’s player,…in an average band situation,..you’d be hard pressed to use it’s full capacity for the ????invested.
Unless you are going to expressly feature the unit in your Pop songs (or Jazz Fusion/Rock etc;)…tunes composed with it in mind,..then it may be worth it!!
To justify the reason for owning & using it as a Bassist,..(IMO☝????)
I’d suggest you master it & bring your “A Game” to the sessions or rehearsals..(goes as well for any other pedal FX used)
To give a great impression of its worth!!
Imo,..music today is doing nothing & going nowhere but prove it’s crap!,..just copy ‘n paste ????..that sounds more like ”anthems” than songs…no composition-like thought or real passionate feelings of expression within the music!
(Wanna get what I mean??…go watch & listen to ANY well-Seasoned/Accomplished/Successful band of any Genres play their hits live!!..to feel me!!)
Finally,..if you’ve read this far,..don’t get me wrong ‘cause I like & use pedal FX frequently but WHILE upholding the role I’m playing in whether it’s my Telecaster Guitars or any one of my many Basses!!
(Yes,..I play BOTH professionally over 30 years and counting!)
So imo in conclusion,..this pedal would be nice to own & use with its fine features but practically just how much use per gig/ year for what tunes is something to ponder..????????????✨..and I’m out!!..yawl keep Rockin’ & Funkin’!! ✌????
what the fuck is that guitar in the background!?
None of that sounds like dubstep….
LFO. Does it have a Love Freaking Out tone?
Did your head stock break off. Or do the rosary needs just help the tone. You don’t have long hair so not sure what you you’ve got going on there. Cool demo for the most part tho. But the poor Fodera.
what is on his thumb at 3:50?
TABS please! 🙂
Wyld Stallyns rule!!
Not something that I would buy, but I used one at my local store and it works very well for people that are looking for a bass sound that works very well for kind of an electronic music experiment.
Hello from Internet land. I like this
Love the sounds and parts you do on this video. Do you mind if I sample a few bits?
Great demo…but. Dude…….shoes
changing your strings must suck
that would be fun playing barefoot with an old svt and a leaky y cap
This is your bass, This is your bass on drugs
Fucking SOLD. Getting one tomorrow
Really like this! 🙂
hey guys, please help me. I got hot hand 3 and bass envelope filter recently. Both are connected normally and at the beginning everything worked very well. but suddently the hot hand stopped to send the signal. I mean, LED lights are still working but the sensor is not wobbling anymore. I tried to reset all settings to default mode and I made the calibration again, but it isn't work anymore. Please help me or I will kill myself.
+sourceaudioeffects, what's with all the "stuff" on your head stock?
You said at 4:30 that the pedal can be connected to the computer… That conection in via MIDI-USB?
its easier to use pedals barefoot.. its easier to turn the knobs and all .. and you wont get your pedal dirty too ..
nice playing
I would like to try this out with my whamola.
to the bassist: Feet. Weird looking stuff on the bass. Goofy bass work?? Are you simply trying to dissuade older musicians from watching? Damn near did too. Good thing i got imagination. I think I may have use for the thing. Who sells them??
Appreciate the video, but please put some damn shoes on.
how can buy this ?
I just want to know WTF is going on with his headstock…
does this pedal come with 2 pairs of socks and some shoes? or at least slippers?!? wtf..
