Ive looked at dozens of videos of the 5150 trying to decide whether to buy one.
EVERYONE chugs in every video…
Just once, id love to see soneone recreate van halen tones and actually play van halen riffs…
Still sounds thin and treble-ly to me. I'm looking for that wall of tone that you get when you turn up the master and control it with the channel volume.
Thanks for displaying its actual room sound, very big difference. That's why ya can't really go off mic'd up demo vids

I got mine today I have a dean ml razorback sig and it sounds amazing also have the dime wah black and grey camo it’s an awesome amp I played for hours today I’m 48 been playing since 14 years old and it’s like I need to relearn how to play I don’t have to work so hard to play it just does what I want it sings notes it chugs out and I’m palm muting towards the middle of the pickups and not on the bridge very responsive I can go and on
Is there a clean channel on that
I bought one a year ago. Its the first tube amp Ive ever owned. I love it. Im not a good guitar player but a line 6 always got me cheap gain. I was always annoyed by not being able to roll back my guitar volume and not have it clean up. Tube amp only
Why have I always thought Peavey made the 5150?
I have the same amp multiple straps and 3 evh japs.. this guitar amp is fuckin awesome better than my marshall dsl . This amp is a must fuck a 4 12 and marrshall. I still love my marshall and cream back

I bought this combo without even hearing it after my dad just bought the 5150III because I wanted something chunky in the same style but more affordable. Anyways, thank you for showing off the green channel, because I had no idea it was capable of high gain! I absolutely agree that the green channel sounds better, but I do have one complaint about the amp. It is not great with pinch harmonics, and really needs a boost in front to get that accomplished. Aside from that, it's my perfect amp and reminds of the Laney GH50L more than the original 5150 or anything else done in that style. Really an incredible amp for the money, and I have only played one other amp I liked more, the Peavey Ultra Plus.
I mean… Machine Head uses the green channel on 5150s for their rhythm stuff for a reason 😉

Can anyone give some insight for how this amp handles 7 string drop tunings? I’m looking to upgrade my ancient line 6 spider III ???? the thing sounds muddy-er than a Louisiana swamp when I hit my 7th string hahaha. The lowest I normally go is G#.

Interesting that EVH never played "metal", especially as it's known today, but his amps have become the metalcore staple.
So glad I found your channel! My son and I messed with this amp whenever we went to Guitar Center, but never got to crank it to realize its potential. After hearing your review and many others, it was a no-brainer. My son is currently trying to make it CHUG, as I type, using your settings. Thanks again! ????
Can't go wrong with one of these. The 40W is violent to say the least. I can't even throw a TS in front of it. It would blow my NS-2 Out of the water lol. Thing is perfect for smaller gigs ( bars ) . Thing is brutal.
From experience I would say save up for something you love and not something you settle.
I would buy this… and never use channel 2 xD

This amp is amazing. I am a bassist but needed a guitar amp for a project on guitar. I swapped the speaker to a Creamback H and it is amazing. I’m going to use this as a blend for bass next studio project. Handles 6 string basses very well.
Are these better than a dsl40cr for metal ?

I Recent aquire the 60w version of this combo. You're demo (and everyone elses) sounds so good. So much better than mine. Mine nothing but fizz no matter how I eq it. Is it that fizzy and just not coming through the recording?

all evh 5150 combos kick ass. The problem is that they are so damn heavy. I never weighed the thing but I had one years ago and it was much heavier than my ac30 that was 75 lbs. That was the OG Peavy 5150 that was a straight up monster. I'm not sure how these new ones compare.
