If you were to hold a world wide vote, there's no song or band that could win over 51% or more of the population. It seems to me that by this logic all music sucks.
BABYMETAL – They made a whole lot of new metal gatekeepers!
Metal has arguably the largest swing in style within sub genres so it's going to have the most potential for criticism. What other type of music has opera vocals about love, grunting and growling about murder, sometimes NO vocals at all. Sometimes its very very slow and low tuned. sometimes its very very fast and standard tuned.
OK, I'm i feel like I've been shoved into a weird place by some of this video. I listen to mostly metal. I listen to several different sub genres of metal, (some of which actively "compete" when the whiny people get involved) . I also listen to ambient, and shoegaze, and grunge, and punk , and new wave (which is now old wave ) and deliberately weird sh*t, and well I'm here and subscribed since 2020 aren't I ? … you get the picture.
SO, if I say Metal heads are not fragile , I'm going to look defensive and …well … therefore… fragile.
I go to metal festivals and they are as easy going to be at as surf festivals, because for the most part no one gives a crap as long as you're having a good time… and you know what? If you're not having a good time they'll go out of their way to fix it as best as they can. It's a great community full of relaxed and open minded people who want you to be ok.
With that said; ON THE INTERNET, there are some whiney, gate keeping, jerks, who make a LOT of noise in metal land. Where they all disappear to at the festivals is a mystery.
I just think stupid people are louder. They appear louder because it hurts to listen to them (or deal with their democratic decisions, and so on). We notice how much it hurts and that makes them disproportionally prominent; like that one guy in a bar that was otherwise mellow.
And if you challenge me on this… I'll probably say you're right when you're right and offer examples to consider if I think you're mistaken. And then whatever you say we'll leave as friends as far as I'm concerned.
In summing up… I think, unilaterally, … some people are just jerks, and jerks are loud.
It needs a terror bird (extinct but hella dangerous)
The liger is the most dangerous animal
I can't concentrate, THERE IS NOTHING ON RYANS SHIRT!!!! I can't concentrate.
Reggae has built-in gatekeeping: dreadlocks. If you just decided to switch genres yesterday and become a reggae artist your lack of dreads would be an immediate self own
Yo, the fact of the matter is that certain genres emphasize authenticity almost to a cartoonish degree. Country and rap are probably among those at the top of that list, rock and metal close behind.
there also is a s-1 model
You need to try Darn Tough socks! they're comfy, plus funky colors, plus a lifetime warranty!
I like punk, too. Less sexist and racist than metal fans (sorry but true) but argue a lot about what is punk, selling out, etc. And during Covid? Uggh! Many of the bands have scientists in them (Descendants, Bad Religion, etc.) and fans who don’t believe anything the government supports so that includes vaccines. Uggh. My head wanted to explode at Punk Rock Bowling a few years ago.
Thrash was created my metal kids who also listened to punk.
Skaters and surfers were pretty different in urban areas like where I’m from (Hollywood/Fairfax Area). I think the overlap was in beach areas like Venice, Santa Monica, Santa Cruz, or San Diego where I live
Metal fans tend to be dudes too
That first Gibson looks like it has a Pulp Fiction gimp mask. Fugly!
Genre names are usually defined by critics rather than artists
If someone is your "favorite" band, you should probably know the name of the bass player…
The Challenger should have gone for NO Hundred bucks????
60 Cycle Hum tried to discredit the Metal but the Metal was too strong. Nita Strauss tried to defile the Metal but the Metal could do no wrong.
Boat scientists
As a metalhead, I wholeheartedly agree. Apparently, the ideas of "change" and "inclusion" turn them into some little punks.
Damn i like metal yacht rock Clapton Ghost and Sleep Token. Am I the worst?
NO CURSING Nina for fuks sake!
