  • Man that 1959 modified is super flexible. You can totally cross genres and gigs with it. It’s a flexi-Plexi!

  • I just picked up the JCM 900 Studio Combo…WOW! Build quality is impeccable, it's a beautiful amp.
The clean is monumental, a beautiful slight breakup starting at noon (humbuckers). Just a bit more on the lead side at around 9 o'clock and gradually builds to a great Marshall growl beyond there. It's a little cleaner all around with single coils as you would expect. I've heard many comments about "fizz" from the old 900's but I hear none of that in this amp. All controls are effective. Of course, it required a few hours of speaker break-in to get to this point. I expect it to be even better in a few days.
Attenuation at 5 watts is great, at 1… not so much, but I believe that's just the lack of volume that we love to hear.
Effects loop works as it should. I haven't tried the direct out for recording yet…

  • My old guitar player stumbled across one io the old 100 watt Marshalls from the mid 60s I believe and played a black beauty LP through it.That rig sounded so damn good and yes it was so loud I had to upgrade my bass amp to an cs 800 power amp with a Realtube Bluetube used as my preamp and the marshall still gave the cs800 a run for its money.

  • I was shocked at how rounded, mellow and woody a sound I can get out of my SV20 at low volumes, just plug into one of the lower impedance inputs, and obviously it helps to have lower output PAF style pickups. The thing about Marshalls is you really got to dial in a great tone using all the controls, there's more math involved than say a single knob American vintage amp.

  • I can get that Marshall.. and some plexi, and a 5150, and a dumble, and some fenders and some mesa boogies etc and put them all in my ToneX … put a BK Butler tube drive in front of it and it costs me next to nothing. Pretty cool to be able to buy a model of a $500k dumble that if you were to be blindfolded you would not be able to tell the difference. ❤. Tube amps are absolute other than having one to model. ????

  • You just simply cannot mistake a JCM 800. I wasent watching the video but knew instantly when they started playing it. I think ill be buying one of these

  • Genuine question so no hate please but for anyone looking to buy a new Marshall that has been modded to recreate the sound of an original, why not just buy say an 80’s JCM800?

There seem to be a few for sale at prices lower than a new amp. I’ve had my 2204 for best part of 40 years and I’ve never felt the need to change/upgrade (in short if you like the vintage Marshall sound, get an old one they’re great!)

  • Please tell me what Marshall amps or Marshall-like amps mute the speakers when I want to do silent recording?

  • Is this a product range that's going to stick around for a while then? Sorry if I missed that bit I've got a cat that keeps climbing on the keyboard when my back is turned!

  • Back in the day when Mesa came with the rectifier, Marshall came with the 900 and almost nobody liked it, and now they would buy one ???? on the market you can buy them almost for nothing, people are weird

  • I was sorry to see in the press this morning that Marshall Amplification has been sold to the Chinese. I guess we have already lost Vox to China, but sad nonetheless.

  • Is it true that a company in China had bought Marshall amps is this the last straw and will they be good or bad

  • I NEED THAT 1959 ???????????????????????????????????????????? oh my lord! Thanks for showing us this ???????????????????????????????????? saving now! ????

  • Just about all of Green Day’s albums have been a 1959 modded and it’s by far my favorite tone

  • I feel like this dude has no clue. AC/DC to this day makes a living touring with more than 10 Marshall’s running in unison. So I feel like he’s out of touch. There’s a lot of bands still playing through a 100W Marshall.

  • I have already ordered the Studio 900 and should receive it tomorrow. I am also thinking about the JCM800 Modified even though I probably won't need another 100-watt amp anymore. Like they mentioned, the 100-watt amps have bigger sound and from my experience this is true.
